AvP is certainly underrated, and you can tell by the big backlash negative reviews of it have recieved, namely the Game Informer review, which is the saddest excuse of journalism out there. The game pretty much got bashed because reviewers seemed to be expecting Alien vs Predator: Modern Warfare, which is not what it's about at all. The game was MEANT to feel old school. It's easilly a 7-8 rated game.
Ohh dantes infero, though I don't agree with you. It tis your opinion so I must understand.
Alone In the Dark
Army Of Two
Mirrors Edge
Dark Sector
Condemned
Ninja Blade
Viking
The bourne conspiracy
Time shift
All of the ones you listed deserved what they got.
My list is:
- Madworld.
- Boom Blox.
- Monster Hunter games (PSP).
There are some more. Can't think of them though.
Mirror's Edge.
Most sources panned the game for being a poor first person shooter... without realizing it was created to be a first-person parkour simulator with shooting elements. It was a very ground-breaking game for the first-person perspective, and most people wrote it off as bad or mediocre.
Syphon Filter 2.
Much better than the first game, with many improvements and yet received (especially here on Gamespot) a very low score and panning review.

It just goes to show that you cannot trust reviews from other people.
Good games that got bad reviews? What does that mean? Aren't you really just saying "Games I personally like but can't handel that someone else gave it a bad score and I can't be bothered to read or discuss the actual article review because that would be too much work"?
Of course those games deserved their low scores. They are clearly just derivative games that aren't worth the sixty bucks. When games like Uncharted 2 show you how it's done its tough to settle for games like Dark Void and AVP.
Really they are just ignoring some glaring flaws in these games. I played Haze and Lair and clearly they are flawed and broken. Yet some gamers really wanted to love these games so much. The difference is the gamer spent 60 bucks and has to justify his purchase. The critic is saving people from wasting their money.Good games that got bad reviews? What does that mean? No I'm asking if people think that a certain game got an unjustifiable low score. I suppose you think GS is immune to errors and is never wrong right?Shielder7Opinions technically can't be wrong. Certain things are facts such as "screen tearing" and "controls don't work." When a game is broken that's not an opinion that's a fact.

I hate to break it to you but unless there's a game stopping glitch or bug they can't be considered broken and screen tearing happens in the best of games like Demons souls try again.

That game...when drunk...or high, is incredible.
I like Dark Void, Dante's Inferno, and AVP. The first and last had some technical faults, however, which brought down the experiences, but both were 8's or so as far as enjoyability goes.

Screen tearing is only mentioned when its prevalent enough that they noticed it. And things can be broken in a game but the game still works. If you have a car with a broken radio, AC, and heating, you can still drive it, but the driving experience is brought down and there are things inside of it that are certainly broken. So yes, parts of a game can be considered broken.

If the controls don't work, like in Lair, I'd consider the game broken. Screen tearing is just an example of a fact critics can use when scoring a game. I didn't say screen tearing makes a game broken but it can effect the score of the game depending on the severity of the issue. 90% of a review is opinion but certain aspects of the game cane be viewed as factual and can factor into the review. Thats the point I'm trying to make. Why waste time defending these games? Who cares. Games are too expensive to settle for average games.
Never seen that before, thanks for the  :).Stalin Vs Martians.

Parts =/ Full Game and just because a game got a low score doesn't mean any of it was broken. You guys need to take a chill pill I know Game Spot is your god but it was just a simple question asking if anyone thinks a game got an unjustifiable score and since some games get mixed reviews I don't see why your getting all bent out of shape. Sorry I questioned Game Spot I was foolish to think they could be even slightly wrong......
Mount & Blade. The game got 6.0 on Gamespot only because of the simple visuals, the lack of cinematographic feel and the overhall low production values. Gameplay-wise it deserves a 9.0. I had more fun playing Mount & Blade than playing most of the mainstream games released lately.
If it was up to gamers every game would score a nine or ten. Just accept the fact that many games are average and yes you can still enjoy them but a job is to tell people if a game is worth sixty bucks or not. None of those games are worth sixty bucks. Bread_or_DecideSo i guess critics are immune to error and can never be wrong and or biased? hmmm I thought critics were human, they must be super intelligent alien robots who are never wrong.

Sorry I questioned Game Spot I was foolish to think they could be even slightly wrong...... Seems you're the one who needs the "chill pill". I've only made one comment, rather calmly I might add, to put my two cents in the discussion. The fact you took that as aggressive and "bent out of shape" inclines me to believe you're the one taking this a bit too far, not me. Not to mention apparently you're under the impression I follow reviews like a religion or something. All from one little post, please
That all aside, he is technically correct. There are things in reviews that are simply facts. As a reviewer, its their job to point these things out. Nothing more. They don't say "Oh, you will hate it", they say what flaws it has and if said flaws won't bother you, then the review has still done its job. Reviews are to inform you of what to expect from a game.
Now please, respond in a civil manner instead of claiming I'm "bent out of shape" or something other nonsense.

I agree 100% of Syphon Filter 2! That game is godly! I played it again about 3 months ago on PSP, so much better than the first and just as good as the PSP iterations IMO.
