Good or Bad Time to buy PS3??

Hey,

I like the idea of a Playstation 3. I like that it has Blue Ray, and the games really draw me towards the console. Also, Sony is and has always been an awesome electronics company. I pretty much, through research, like everything about the gaming beast. Anyway, I have seen stats that show that PS3 is 3rd in sales lately, and some say that they are "failing" as a console in the market world. This is mostly because it is the most expensive. I personally disagree that the PS3 is anything close to being a dud in the future because Sony has enough background in every other product they sell easily supporting the company and keeping the PS3 in the gaming world. I was just wondering your opinions on whether or not you find the PS3 a good buy right now?

What kinds of games are you into?

If you got the cash, why not?  It has enough of a solid lineup now that if you were to buy one, you should be entertained for a good while.

Thanks for the replies. I am into shooters, sports and racing games. I also like RPGs, so pretty much everything, haha. I had a 360 for over 2 years, it's now broken, the warranty is voided, and frankly Microsoft is not on my good list ny any means whatsoever.

As for RPG's, it's still somewhat pending, but Valkyria Chronicles (just released) is a good start.

As for sports, either system will do.

yeh its good, honestly i would have said mgs4 is the system seller on this console..and before mgs4 i ouldnt give you a straight answer..

however ps3 has some great games: MGs4, socom (its patched and theres a great community), R2, uncharted, LBP, warhawk..etc.

honestly tho i think the system seller was lbp. After dissing it and thinking it would be another bad flopped exclusive i decieded to pick it up just for the level creator..damn am i wrong about the game..I havent touched the levle editors yet, ive been having so much fun playing story, extra missions and user generated levels...its a def buy. finally bringing back old school platforming in a new and intresting way

Alright, I do have a high def TV,  but I actually use a standard def for gaming because of room arrangments, haha.

Blu-ray offers better sound, better picture and the disks are pretty much scratch proof. The older movies look a little better than DVD but the newer releases look amazing.

i think it is a decent time to buy one since metal gear 4 is out, little big planet. iam2green

 Resistance 2, Warhawk, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank F:ToD, Motorstorm 2, Valkyria Chronicles ( as for exclusives that are out that i can remember )

In my opinion it's a good buy but it depends on a lot of things. If you have an HDTV and you want a PS3 then it's an easy choice, buy the PS3. Watching blu ray movies has really changed my love for movies because they don't feel like huge downgrades from the theater to the home. As for games, I've enjoyed MGS4, LBP, and many others. There's always something to play. So far my experiences have told me that there's nothing to really dislike about the PS3 in terms of games or movies, other than some minor online issues that are usually resolved. The only thing that might turn you off is how much it costs.

I'm slowing getting rid of my DVD collection in exchange for new blu ray movies. The quality difference is staggering. Sometimes the PS3 can upconvert dvd's quite well but I watched Sunshine on dvd the other day (awesome movie, awesome visuals) and there were multiple scenes where there were large areas of pixelation and/or blurriness. The best part is that most blu ray movies are now only about $5 than the dvd's but if you really wanna save some cash just buy used blu rays since they don't really scratch so it's like they are still brand new.

Yes, for HDTV owners, it's a Must Have.

However, for Gamers without HDTV's, it's a great machine, but they can't tap all the potential.

I have all the machines, but if you think the PS3's a dud, it's not even close. It's also not the raging success the PS2 was, but you get what you pay for. The PS3 is a hell of a machine, incredibly well made, reliable with a ton of benefits for HDTV users, gamers, media hub, and Internet gamers. It's one of the greatest machines for a kind of niche market (Which I have been in since 1999, but it's everything I hoped it would be, but price isn't an issue for me).

It's fabulous.

Thanks again for all the replies. The main reason that I want a PS3 in the first place is Resistance 1, and 2. These games are just exaclty what I have dreamed about games being based on, haha. I don't think I have ever been so into a game just from previews. Also, GT5 looks awesome.
