Konami and Sony Teaming up to bring Metal Gear Solid to Motion Picture/FILM. At the Electronic Entertainment Expo last year, Konami revealed that work had begun on a live-action movie based on Metal Gear Solid. The news broke via a pamphlet for Studio Kojima, the Konami-owned development house headed up by Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima. "I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement," Kojima said in a statement. "False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a forbidden For eight months, the identity of the aforementioned "party" was unknown. That changed this week, when Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman Yair Landau revealed his studio is developing the project. "We're working with the Metal Gear guys," Landau told GameSpot following his D.I.C.E. Summit keynote in Las Vegas. "It's a very cinematic game, it really lends itself to movie-telling. But the question is, 'How do you translate Snake's experience into a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?'" Landau also hinted the Metal Gear Solid movie may just be the beginning. "There are other games we are looking to develop," the executive said. "We're working with one of my favorite producers right now on an idea for an EverQuest movie." The producer was apparently of such stature that Landau declined to name him. "I'll let him disclose that," he said cryptically. Besides the forthcoming World of Warcraft film, currently in development at Warner Bros., the Metal Gear Solid movie is the highest-profile game-film project in Hollywood. Previously, that that stature was held by the Peter-Jackson-produced Halo adaptation, which imploded last year.

Purely Bias. Would they lock a Halo 3 movie thread? DOUBT it. I saw tons of Halo 3 film threads 10 pages long. No lock. This is massive SONY news...so they HAVE to lock it. It shows Konami and SONY are bed buddies and the chance of seeing 360 port of MGS 4 are slim as ever.

The post before mine brought up Resident Evil, which is owned by Capcom, which has a longtime partnership with Sony but while the movies (handled by Sony Pictures) were coming out, the games came EXCLUSIVELY to GameCube. Konami cares nothing about Sony, if they decide that MGS4 would do better on 360, they WILL bring it to the 360. Now, I don't know or care if MGS4 comes out on the 360, but your theory is wrong and holds no historical persistence and that is why I'm calling you out. You're just wrapping your-cow-self with a false sense of security and it might just disappointed you afterwards.

Nobody wants to sign it because Microsoft wants to much control and too much of the profits, get your facts straight. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft ended up doing this movie themselves.

The idea of a super soldier like Master Chief is one thing, but the over the top stories of Metal Gear Solid are laughable. The storylines of Metal Gear Solid are interesting, but also way too heavy on corny cutscenes, wackjob characters, and -snickers-....cyber ninjas. It's OK for a video game, but for a movie, Metal Gear Solid is just not going to work out.
