Anyone else super gutted about this?

Konami's misdemeanors: Removing David Hayter from the role of Snake, making Kojima leave, canceling Silent Hills and now this. :(

A company that gets on mobile is not a company i should give an f about. MGS5 may be the last excellent mgs, tho and that would SUCK.

I really don't mind Kiefer voicing Snake, but that other stuff. Oh well, atleast Iga has Bloodstained and I'm sure Kojima will still be busy.

Too bad for Suikoden, Contra(could see this get some kind of kickstarter successor also though), and the Hudson properties. I'd add Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon but it's been dead to long to blame that on Konami falling out.

The company has really been in decline for a while I think.

Sorry, but for a company that's been basically a one trick MGS shitting machine for so long now......no big loss. They didn't accord Castlevania the love it deserved, nor Gradius, nor Contra, nor Bomberman. Kojima left because they told him to immediately begin work on MGS VI, I've no doubt. Yea, this company has been dead to me for quite a while aside from MGS, of which IV was a joke. Hopefully V will be the proper send-off.

Mobile itself is not inherently bad, neither are casual games; the dickheads on the platform treat it as a scam ATM machine, or just clone the shit out of other games.

Hopefully in the future, as technology becomes more powerful and new methods of controls are achieves the platform will improve.

Anyone following the trainwreck news of interesting developments at Konami would not be surprised. Disappointed, but not surprised.

And I find it funny that his previous thread is still open. Not to mention that there's 2 more threads that are still open under 500 post.

Ya outside metal gear I haven't owned a Konomi game since well I can't even recall one other then a metal gear so ya. No real big loss here other then losing a couple great series. Would love to see kojima do a passion project though. PC exclusive would be awesome.

The people that made the great games will live on elsewhere in new, exciting games, but it does feel like the end of a long, storied run of video game history.

At least Kojima is gone. May he never reappear anywhere else. Still. I will buy the next MG. Hope he didn't **** it up.

The reality is Japan and the West are going down different paths in terms of what mainstream gaming is.

Mobile gaming sucks as long as I'm supposed to carry a separate controller for my phone, no thanks. Without proper control you are stuck with simple time killers and they really don't interest me. I'd rather carry my humongous Vita (and two 16GB memory cards) around and play superior games with that.

Well there goes another game company in the shit list now. Man so many great companies since last gen and the current gen are turning to shit. Konami is just like Capcom now.

@AcidTango: At least capcom still makes more then 1 or 2 actual AA or AAA games a year. And won't be focosing purelly on Mobile platforms.. Fucking mobile games.. I use my phone to call text and a portable internet information machine. I empty out all the rest of the bullshit that I can and disable the rest. And for sure won't be putting a cheap game on my phone to let it data mine me.

The worst part of all this is just like with Capcom, all those fantastic IP's that will just be sat on forever.

Besides MGS they've been pretty irrelevant to me in the last couple of years. I used to love SH but after SH3 it just went downhill (no pun intended) and i lost interest in the series. P.T. was awesome but it had little to no resemblances to Silent Hill so I dont know what to expect. MGS was starting to get milked.

Good point and I'm not saying that every game Capcom releases will be bad because once and a while they make some decent games but they are for sure not as good as they use to be since many of their other games are terrible plus they ruined many of their popular franchises such as Mega Man and Resident Evil. And as for Konami if they are focusing mostly on mobile then I'm done with them. I only play phone games to waste time on the bus and nothing else. Phone games will never replace actual gaming to me.

@david_lck: The reason they want to go Mobile is because everything is digital and it's a whole lot cheaper to make mobile games, then to make PC of console games.

Metal Gear Solid was their entire business on the console front. Without Kojima they are nothing and they know.

Dont forget about handing Iggy his papers..... I gasped when that happened.

But after I saw Bloodstained... I stopped caring about Konami.

I would say hopefully someone "licenses" them, but usually licensed games don't work out - and paying the fee is a waste of money that could go towards developing a better game.

Maybe they will just sell the IP's to somebody on a more permanent basis.

I'm really sad to know that there won't be another "traditional" Silent Hill, Castlevania or even Metal Gear Solid, a huge part of my gaming persona has died :(

This is almost as bad as when THQ went under. I'm sure if Konami decides to lead console gaming alone, they're gonna at least auction off some IPS. Hopefully, contra, castlevania, and some of the really old stuff gets picked up again. Still sad to see knowing that I grew up on Konami with classics like Cybernator,Contra 3, TMNT- Tournament fighters, Castlevania and all the other stuff.
