Just tried the towel method and it worked i dont know how much it will last tough, sorry for the double post.RevenMan
Are you serious??!! it worked??? Microsoft should include towels with their bundles for now on.
Im curious to what particular hardware is causing the system to crash like it does...gfx card...cpu. Honestly you would think Microsoft would be able to figure out the problem.
p.s. what is the towel method???

Yes it worked but from what i have read its only a temporary fix. The 360 has great games but i guess its preatty unreliable. That and i was really waiting to play mass effect and the other great games coming out this holiday :(.

Well I like to know when each console rolled of the assembly line.
I mean if consoles made this year are still failing then, yes I say there is something there.
But if its just a bad batch thats is failing over a period of time, then its just makes it seem like a worse problem than it is.
Well i just got the 3 red rings tried to boot up my 360 a couple of times but it dosent work guess il try the towel method since my 360 is out of waranty. I have also heard some people talking about a new hardware being installed in new 360's can someone shed more light on this? Im seriously thinking of switching to the ps3 altough i like the 360 lineup for now alot more.RevenMan
The towel trick works once or twice for a couple days, I tried it. But then your 360 will just die anyway so there is no point. I was a fan of 360 because of it's games. I really wanted to play Halo 3, but now I'm going to cut my losses and get a PS3, a broken 360 out of warranty is not nice believe me. I'm selling all my 360 games and jumping ship to PS3/Wii
Thanks for wasting my money and time MS, thanks a million.
First thing to check when you get three red lights: Make sure your dumb *** didn't trip the power cord and its slightly lose from the powersupply.Vandalvideo
I can see why you would think this seeing as those who own 360s are liable to be that cereberally challenged.

I just know about that from first hand experience..... *Runs to cry in a corner*[QUOTE="Zhengi"]Pay MS to fix your 360. RevenMan
Why would i pay ms to fix my 360 if i know that the same thing will happen in a couple of months. Its not my fault they are selling a broken product.
According to that other thread asking if people would buy another 360 if theirs broke, many were saying repairing would be the best option if the console was out of warranty. I'm just repeating what 360 owners were saying they'd do. Personally, I'd cut my losses like the other poster said and go with a more reliable console. $400 is just too much to spend on shoddy hardware.

Well you can use the PC to replace your 360 since the PC is going to eventually recieve almost all the good 360 titles anyway.

What's amazing is I bought my 360 July 2nd 06, over 8 months after launch and it failed 3 red lights, also HDD failed, got new 1 and it failed 3 red lights, got my 3rd system and Ebayed the dam thing before I was screwed out of all my money.

Well it shouldn't be, because a lot of failure is going on with 360 systems and people are just sucking it in and getting replacements, either by warranty or paying the full price. My brother in law is on his 4th system. He's had problems from disctray failure, to scratching discs, to 3 red lights.
This is crazy. I can't believe there are this many defective 360s. It is ridiculous.Wasdie
It seems the problem is getting worse, so it's only a matter of time before there is a class action law suit. I think Halo 3 and GTAVI will push most peoples 360's into the red zone, causing a mass uprising of lemmings. Then we might see something done about this cover up.
Dude try to open the 360 up, it should remove the heat better. Man this is why I love PCs, first of all it is virtually impossible to burn an intel CPU, my GPU has a lifetime warranty, so does my ram, PSU, Mobo, and all my parts are guaranteed to work even in 90 degree weather. Plus I can add fans to my case, and/or get better coolers. Its all in quality. muscleserge
Yeah thats one of the reasons i want to go back to pc gaming. I havent upgraded my rig for years tough so it would come out to be expensive, and since i have to change almost everything inside i gues i have to build a new pc altoghether.
Funny how this only happens on system wars. I play college sports and live in a dorm. I probably know about 60 360 owners and none of them have ever had the red lights of death. It's sooo exagerated on system wars it's pathetic.PoppaLemming
Well i have 2 friends who also had a 360 and they got the three rings too i tought i was the lucky one guess i wasnt. I know its exagerated in system wars but there is still a big problem with the 360 and pretending its not there will not solve it
I think MS is now installing something that will reduce heat in the system that will help reduce the 3rl.
Idk switch to whatever console you want, I don't care...
Quit playing your system all day everyday. It's that simple. Even the NES use to freeze and shut down when you played it all damn day. Geez

Im not playing my system all day and everyday i usually play 2 to 3 hours max a day. And there are days that i dont even play. My console is also on a flat cool surface i have air-conditioning so the temp never gets too hot, i have dont everything i could no to get the 3 rings but i still got them now dont tell me its the consumer's fault becouse its just not.
