Gamespot has released the Game of the Year Nominees for 2011

Here they are:

-Batman: Arkham City

-Dark Souls

-Dirt 3

-The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

-Gears of War 3

-Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

-Portal 2

-Total War: Shogun 2

-The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

-Xenoblade Chronicles

And with that count, we have:

5 multiplats

2 PC exclusives

1 Xbox 360 exclusive

1 Wii Exclusive

0 PS3 Exclusives

Guess it wasn't really the year of the PS3 after all, UC3 wasn't even nominated.

No Idea why it was left out. UC3 was a good game, one of the better this year. But hey, at least Gamespot is unpredictable like that. IGN has such an erection for Mass Effect and Uncharted that I wouldnt be surprised by their nominees/awards in the slightest.Plagueless

UC3 wasn't better than any of those games listed. It was solid, but not GotY material.

Its weird how different people percieve some games. Uncharted was nominee material for the VGA's while Gears 3 got neglected, and here its the opposite.

I enjoyed what little I've played of UC3 so far, and while I would put it in my top 5, I haven't played Dirt 3 so... eh, I don't feel qualified to complain even if I kind of wanted to.

Lololol. I used to be a cow, but its kind of heartwarming to see Uncharted 3 not on the list, for 2 reasons:

1. the way Sony fanboys conduct themselves

2. Because the game did not deserve to be up there. Also, happy to see Portal 2 get acknowleged.

The lack of Dead Space 2 on that list disturbs me. As does the lack of L.A. Noire. They could have at least been recognised by being put up there, becaue they DID deserve recognition. Infamous 2 did as well.

As for Uncharted 3, damn right it didnt deserve to be up there. Anyone who's actually PLAYED the game will tell you that.

Ive been putting more hours into Gears 3, and im starting to warm up to it more. Im almost done with act 1(act 1 is pretty long), because Ive just been playing alot of multiplayer. The game is DEFINATELY more polished of a game than Uncharted 3. No ifs, ands or buts about it, and if you call my opinion "trolling" go cry to someone who cares :)

And yes, the graphics in Gears 3 are MUCH better than Uncharted 3, however Killzone 3, Infamous 2, and yes....Resistance 3 look better.

Not at all.

While all 3 games are fantastic game, Skryim and Shogun 2 really improved over their predecessors while Uncharted 3's improvements were more tweaks to things that were already there. Even with the expanded multiplayer in Uncharted 3, it's still not as big of an improvement as Shogun 2 was over Napolean or Skryim was over Oblivion.

P.S. If Gears 3 doesn't win, being a GOTY nominee isn't that big, especially if a game with a lower score takes tha GOTY award from Gears 3, and seeing that the only 360 exclusive on the list, are you absolutely sure that's a win for the 360?

I bet Arkham City or Portal 2 is going to win. But I was soooooooo wrong about the Skyward Sword score, so my predictions are not worth much at this point.

Pretty funny that there's no PS3 exclusives on that list. I mean, PS3 had a good year for exclusives (they didn't blow everybody's minds like cows insisted, but there was a steady stream of them), but after all the hype, this situation is quite hilarious.

What the hell is Dirt 3 and Dark Souls doing on the list? lol!! The fact that Demon's Soul inadvertantly won 2yrs prior should eliminate that game from the list. Anyway, this is going to be between Skyrim, XenoBlade (is this being released in the U.S. this year?) and Batman: Arkham City. I'm surprised Uncharted 3 wasn't on the list. I can see that game being these moreso then Dirt 3 or Ghost Trick. I'm surprised NBA 2K12 wasn't on the list.

My vote is for Batman, but I'll be happy with Skyrim as well.

That´s a fair list with no big surprises. Of course the fact Sony fanboys spent the last weeks laughing at 360´s 'lack of games' and VGAs choices, makes it ten times more funny :lol:

Umm this is still the year of ps3 because of massive amount of high quality exclusives. 360 only has 1 or 2. Regardless which games are being nominated, more exclusives the better. Also, this is just one site... Gamespot is not God.sethman410

What does Demon Souls have to do with Dark Souls being nominated this year? Dark Souls absolutley belongs on that list. It's one of the bext games I've played all year.

Oh snap! This is interesting :o. I had a feeling Uncharted 3 wouldn't make the cut after playing it. Go Gears 3! If they had some real sense, they'll give it to Dark Souls or Skyrim.

Uncharted 3 won't even get best PS3 game. Aww :lol:. Multiplats are getting better and better. Sony's1st party studios need to step it up! Media Molecule are the only one out of the bunch who made an ultimate sequel (LittleBigPlanet 2). Uncharted 3 and Killzone 3 are awesome games, but they could have been better.

What I'm more interested in is seeing MW3 beat BF3 for best shooter lol. That won't happen since Gears 3 crushes them both!
