GOTY... so far...

I know there was another thread earlier but the poll mainly consists of un-released games. So i want to know what people thought was the best game to come out of the first half of 2008. For me it is Brawl. Remember, this is YOUR OPINION, not what you think Gamespot thinks is the best.

You should've replaced Galatic Civilizations 2 with Sins of a Solar Empire.

Oh, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

I only played brawl on the list so... Brawl.

By the way, I edited my post with Brawl. I was really sleepy and freaking forgot what to write. :P But yeah, again, I will say Brawl.

GalCiv II is from '06, unless you're talking about Twilight of the Arnor.

the only game i didn't play in that poll is galactic civilizations, and I think that the GOTY award is up for grabs. Brawl wasn't enough of an upgrade over Melee, with a lot more features, none of which are done right. GTA4 was absolutely phenonmenal at first, but its greatness is shallow and once you get deeper in the game you realize there isn't much to it, and actually lacking in many ways compared to previous GTAs. It seems like they built this amazing world but dont do much with it. GTA4 was also superior to previous installments in other ways, but it should have been better in every way. MGS4 is the front runner for GOTY right now but it has a lot of problems with the combat as well, and I dont think it would be controversial to point out that the cutscenes could have been cut in half.

MGS4 has an amazing plot though, and it does put GTA4 to shame in that way. GTA4 will probably win the award though because everyone bought systems to play it and it had the biggest impact in the industry.

and GTA4 was just..... GTA with awesome graphics

Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the patriots no doubt.

For me it'd either have to be Brawl or GTA IV.

I'm leaning towards GTA a little more seeing as the experience felt fresher...but brawl does smoke it in terms of replayability. Seriously...there's almost nothing noteworthy to do after you beat the main story :(

I have played MGS4 but I didn't really like it

Wasn't used to the "Tactical Espionage Action" gameplay

Although I'm sure once I got deeper into the game I'd enjoy it

Anyway I vote Brawl

I would also agree Gal Civ 2 : Tota is a better game

GTA4 was dissapointing

brawl was far far too much of the same

i have no idea what galactic civilizations is, Sins of a solar empire should be on there, that game rocks.

the only game that hasn't dissapointed this year is MGS4 IMO.

EDIT: from the poll, it looks like the reader's choice will be MGS4.

too much pressure for mgs4 to be awarded it because they felt the same pressure to give it a 10. The ps3 hadn't had anything good up to that point, so it was needed.diped

Sins I find to be underappreciated by many. The game just really has that epic feeling no matter what. And the battles are just awesome to watch when they're huge.
