GOTY will be a duel between Astro Bot and Echoes of Wisdom

With Astro Bot at a 94 MC and looking great, and Echoes of Wisdom taking the classic Zelda template in a very immersive sim direction, these have to be frontrunners for GOTY

Black Myth Wukong should be considered, a landmark game that opens the door for Chines AAA games, but Western games media isn't over the moon on it.

I think FFVII Rebirth is now eliminated in significant GOTY consideration due to poor sales and weakening word of mouth.

DA The Veilguard and AC Shadows will be ones to watch, but I think its Astro Boy or Princess Zelda.

Real GOTY should be in between Space Marine 2 and STALKER 2.

Just because you don't like FF7 Rebirth doesn't mean it won't be considered for GOTY 😆 It has a 9.2 MC and an 8.9 user score out of 5,000 user scores.

I’m sure Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be in the nominations for GotY. Black Myth Wukong will no doubt be nominated as well. Astro Bot will be in there as well. Got to still wait and see how Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom turns out.

Don’t really see Dragon Age: Veilguard or Assassin’s Creed: Shadows making the cut though.

Can see Shadow of the Erdtree being nominated but feel it’s more of a “Best Ongoing Game” kind of thing.

Time also allows its dated mechanics, controversial story, and other problems to be highlighted more.

Erdtree also got a 10 and every site made exceptions to review it.

True, but unfortunately we dont get to decide the GOTY.

If that were the case, Deathloop, HL Alyx, Overwatch, Middle Earth, Journey, etc, wouldn't have won GOTY.

Unfortunately, the writers and staff decide.

I get it to an extent, as you might have a lot for Sony fans voting than anyone else, but it kinda limits which games can win at that point.

Astrobot isnt winning because no one will click, no one will fight on forums, no one will share their experiences with the game.

Black Myth is my GOTY and I see nothing topping it.

Astro could very well give it a run for it's money though, as I love these kind of games

It Takes Two won the most GOTY awards in one year. You have to look out for games like that.

Except its odd for a very hyped above 90 MC game to sell as poorly as Rebirth, you have to go back to Skyward Sword for a hyped 90+ MC game that flopped.

I dont think a DLC can win GOTY (shadow of the erdree) I cant remember last time a DLC won that title.

Helldivers 2.... Still haven't seen anything come along to dethrone it from a pure visceral gameplay perspective.

Erdtree won't win because it's a DLC but will be mentioned constantly, Helldivers 2 is in the same boat, unless they release a big update with significant and good content, Also we get that OP don't like FF7 Rebirth, even so that definitely doesn't mean it won't be considered for a lot of factors, I would like to mention ReFantazio since i am a big fan of Atlus yet it doesn't look like GotY material nonetheless if it ends up being really good i see it becoming a cult classic like Nier in the past; Stalker 2 was mentioned here by the usual suspect still as ReFantazio it doesn't feel like GotY.

Above all, as always i would love for a new IP to take the crown, so even as it technically isn't new my vote goes for Astrobot for the moment.

So how is FFVII Rebirth accessible? It slack of accessibility has cramped its sales. How has FFVII Rebirth influenced the industry? It hasn't, not positively. How is the gameplay special? Its run of the mill. How is FFVII innovative or set the bar? It isn't. And appeal? Didn't meet expectations.

Black Myth got an 8 with a metascore of 81.

Astrobot got a 9, with a Metascore of 94.

One is just another action RPG, while Astrobot is probably the best 3d platformer since Super Mario Odyssey.

Well you know its been a crap year when all the games mentioned arent that great.

Maybe we should just cancel this years adfest...I mean show and hope next year is a better one for games.

GOTY should be whatever you think deserves it. No amount of articles should sway your opinion on the matter.

This is something many gamers struggle with. It is even funnier when they try to remind of a game receiving GOTY form a specific outlet as if it means anything to anyone except the developers.😂

Zelda might eek out a nomination but won't win. I think the battle is between Rebirth and Astro Bot

No, it is a type of style that wins GOTY. See last year with BG3.

The new Zelda will push the series further than even Tears of the Kingdom.

What grand innovation or influence does Rebirth have? If anything, Rebirth shows that the FF brand has fallen in clout and influence.

I'm loving black myth wukong but it only has an 81 on meta... it probably won't even be nominated.

From what I saw, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is not GOTY material. It looks like a cute game, but it's not a 10/10 or anything.

Well, I hope a game like Astrobot would win over "Link's Awakening with item summons".

I think Zelda will be good, but not GOTY good. It's a safe little Nintendo game, and I don't thinkk anyone is especially excited about it.

I think Astro Bot has this year on lock. Zelda might take home a few awards though.

The best games are type of games we didnt even know we wanted in the first place. Both Zelda and Astro Bot are these kinds of games.

The more I read about Zelda echoes of wisdom, the more I want it. The early impressions from the previews are absolutely glowing. With the only real concern being a lack of difficulty. Hopefully later dungeons and hero mode will fix that.
