How do you make a God of War 4 with how God of War 3 ended?R3FURBISHEDGOW3 Spoilers follow.
I'm pretty sure that Krato's story is done, especially after he killed all the gods. I hope they move on to Aztec/Mayan gods next as they are never explored.
GOW3 Spoilers follow.
I thought Kratos died after the events of God of War 3
GOW3 Spoilers follow.
R3FURBISHED
*spoiler*
He stabs himself with the Blade of Olympus but if you watch the credits it shows his trail of blood lead into the ocean. My personal view is that was an allusion to the opening cinematic from GoW1 where Kratos tries to kill himself by jumping into the Aegean Sea but is lifted back up and his death is prevented
GOW3 spoilers follow.
I know that Kratos stabbed himself, and that's how hope was released to mankind. I'm pretty sure that Kratos' story is done though. I know there was a blood trail, but I'm not really sure what it is supposed to mean. Was he dragged out or did he leave? We may never know.
I wonder if this time Kratos brother will save him. BRING GOW4!
but remember at the end Kratos was nowhere to be seen, he stapped himself but his body wasnt there.. a possiblity he could still be alive
im honestly tired of hearing about it, and i actually liked GoW3 but enougheboyishere
then GTFO!
i kid :P
So as for the teaser
Once Kratos kills all the gods, someone needs to be redeemed? Athena is the enemy and wants to redeem the gods? Maybe bring Chronos back as it was hinted he was found in the future in GOW1, if I remember correctly.
So as for the teaser
AmayaPapaya
nah more like his redemption.
vengeance for letting him "survive his apparent suicide in GOW1".
redemption because he chose to
presumably commit suicide in GOW3 at the end. this means that he may live again but unintentionally this time
This franchise turned to crap without Jaffe.

i have to say GOW1 is still the best.
the traps, puzzles, timed challenges, etc. are challenging but not frustrating. i really like the rotating beams and columns with blades in the latter part of the game. really liked Jaffe's gameplay choices/mechanics.
GOW2 and 3 were just so much easier compared to 1. and GOW3's puzzles were stupid as heck. right below there with Uncharted 2 puzzles.
and the story of GOW1 i feel is still the best. GOW3's "twist" was more like "WTF."
Maybe it is new IP
After doing everything in the world, literally he was done. He had nothing more to do, his wife and daughter forgave him and that was the only thing he ever wanted. In the end he stabbed himself so that athena couldn't have the power of hope. And after the credits we learn that for once in his life, kratos did something for himself on his own terms. If there was one thing that kratos was to decide for himself, it was to decide how he ultimately died, so he died like a spartan and crawled off the cliff and for once the gods had no control over him.
GOW is such a boring franchise. Even cows admitted it had a crappy story. Button mashing gameplay and QTEs on some huge boss fights. The main character is just a angry baby killing for the sake of killing. Anyone hyped for this hasn't played much games.

It got better actually. Not to take anything away from Jaffe. He laid the awesome groundwork, but GoW2 and 3 far surpassed his game.

no, the first one is the best, but the sequels are just as amazing (but slightly less... and very strong emphasis on slightly)

no, the first one is the best, but the sequels are just as amazing (but slightly less... and very strong emphasis on slightly) No, the franchise kind of plummeted after the first one (which IMO, remains one of the greatest games ever created). The first one was incredible. Neat story and character development, incredible gameplay, groundbreaking production values. The second one was just... more of the same, took the story in an entirely different direction, and made Kratos a whiny b*tch. Ditto GoW 3. The only post Jaffe God of War that I feel lived up to the original was Chains of Olympus.

no, the first one is the best, but the sequels are just as amazing (but slightly less... and very strong emphasis on slightly) The sequels are more varied, better paced, have the better boss fights, and even better additions to combat. The original's only advantage is that the original game is like the only time Kratos could have been a justified character(and even then he was a b1tch). The original has been spanked top to bottom(minus story, that actually got dumber, which is kind of impressive).
i wouldnt use the word plummeted but yes..the sequels had to live up to the titan which is the original. Also i must be the only person who doesnt have a problem with kratos and his 'whining' lol Also... the way gow 3 ended... i would much prefer they take it into a new direction...and by that i mean start fresh with a new era (ancient egypt plz) But we are gonna have to wait a freaken week to find out something :(charizard1605I mean, plummeted IS the wrong word to use, they were all still very well made games. Just, the first time I played God of War was a feeling that no game since has ever recreated, and the sequels' continual failure to do so made me more and more disillusioned with the franchise. And I hope they take it to a new setting too. Norse mythology? Yes please! Because the original game was fresh and at the time kind of different. Compared to the other hack n slash games it was taking more cues from Zelda(IE puzzling/dungeony stuff).
For everyone saying that this series needs a new character. Don't get your hopes up. Kratos is one of the most iconic characters in the video game industry and the face of the God of War series. There is no way they will just toss Kratos aside like that. That's like replacing Mario with a German plumber in the Super Mario series.
All we can hope for now is a much improved story with many new gameplay changes. This is a fresh start for a story since all the Gods are dead.
