MS: B+
Sony: C-
Nintendo: F
Decent try guys, but let's do better next-gen or say goodbye to the industry as we know it.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
MS C. They came out strong but crashed in burned and stopped supporting their customors with games
Sony A- started out bad but has made many improvements and still pushing games
nint F solely on their marketing
Ninty B-
Sony:C(maybe higher, but those horrible updates don't help) from what I tried on the PS3
MS:A-(I loved my 360 way more than my Wii.I just wish they invested more in exclusives. I really enjoyed some of the games on the console like halo 4 and witcher 2.)
MS - D; They never had anything going except for Live service which is fine and the achievements. I liked their initial indi support that they now dropped. Their motion solution is the worst of the three. Least interesting library, worst hardware. Didn't even have a handheld.
Sony - C; Too few interesting exclusives. PSN+ is interesting service. Taking away openness of platform after a purchase is not nice. Handheld was ok, just made with the wrong ideas in mind.
Nintendo - B; They made excellent games but their online community structure was ancient, and it didn't have to be that way. I do appreciate visuals and while I understand why they were lagging behind, they were lagging behind. The DS is one of the best handhelds ever.
I don't see how you guys can rate MS highly except for it being an American company so it wins by default or something.
From start to finish, in terms of gamer content, smart decisions, and more, I feel like it's:
Nintendo: A- to F
Sony: D+ to B+
MS: A- to D+
Nintendo with the wii U: F.
Any sony handheld, ever D+(though I do appreciate their efforts, and did enjoy the few good games that were put out on them)
Any nintendo handheld, ever: A(Recently, if nothing else, handhelds are a nintendo gold mine)
Pc...Well, Steam is basically the only thing worth rating for multiple reasons, and they're steady at an A
Microsoft: C+ Good effort, some really great games, good online functionality, but charged consumers for everything and anything (online, wireless adaptors, rechargeable batteries, bigger HDDs, etc, etc, etc.). Initial hardware faulty, but later hardware very solid in looks and performance.
Sony: B Started off very slow due to expensive price and lack of games, however quickly built up momentum. Free online that works well, and very high quality hardware from the start, shame about taking away features as the generation went on. Built up a very impressive game library over it's life that well justified even the launch price in the end. Let down a little by it's incompetence in the Portable market software wise, though hardware in Portable side is stellar.
Nintendo: C Very weak hardware meant a massive lack of third party support. Nintendo relied all too heavily on Mario once again. Motion controls were not fun for long gaming sessions in my opinion. Home console in my eyes was a disgrace. Handheld area though, Nintendo redeems itself, the 3DS has a very impressive software lineup, even though the hardware did not impress me initially.
Microsoft- B-
They really killed themselves at the end.
Sony- B
Bad start but they were consistant over they last 4 years.
Nintendo = shit- D-
The only thing they have done right since the Wii launch is make me appreciate Sony and Microsoft. They seriously names their new console the Wii U? Pathetic.
If he is like me he graded based on their enjoyment with each system that is why I gave Microsoft a lower score then Nintendo and Sony.[QUOTE="Nintendo_Ownes7"]
[QUOTE="CallOfDutyRulez"]
How did Microsoft get the same grade as SONY?
Microsoft is making $500 million in profits per quarter from their xbox division. That is more than SONY and Nintendo combined.
Microsoft also stole a crapton of SONY's marketshare and they didn't spend $6 billion in R&D for an overhyped POS processor.

Excuse-me, I thought we were grading each company based on how much EFFORT they put into making their division profitable. Not how many orgasms you had while playing the CrapStation and jacking it to Kaz.
Why are ya'll responding seriously to one of the newest lil fakeboys round these parts? He just here to rustle jimmies and be an idiot, ignore him and his obvious flamebait.
Meanwhile, I take my own advice after this post.
For home consoles i'd say:
Sony B+ Piss poor start, great end.
MS B- Great start, good end.
and Nintendo D-... Just poor, a handful of good games that's it.
I'm not sure how anyone can grade any of the companies an "A" this generation, every company has had quite glaring flaws in at least one area
_Matt_
Better than last gen for me. Games have been fantastic on the 360 and PS3.

Ofc I would agree better than last gen. In my opinion though, you can't really grade a company A unless they have been consistently excellent with almost no flaws the entire generation, whic I pointed out, isn't true of any of them.

Sony screwed up big time at the beginning of the generation, but got progressively better. Their efforts are commendable, especially considering the lineup of exclusives they have.
As a PC gamer, I have absolutely no interest in the Wii nor the X360, but the only thing that keeps me from buying a PS3 is the fact that I already have too many games to play on PC and all it would do is collect dust after I'm done with Demon's Souls and the Uncharteds.

I see what you're saying.
MS- C
Great start but pretty piss poor ending.
Sony- C+
Awful start but started doing pretty decent near the end. Can't say I care for many exclusives on it (3D Dot Game Heroes and Demon's Souls is awesome though). I question anyone giving them an A...
Nintendo- C+
Weak hardware made it lose on multiplat so wasn't my go to consoles. Easily has the best exclusives out of the three though.
that sig is fantastic :D, is that from Power Rangers?MS C. They came out strong but crashed in burned and stopped supporting their customors with games
Sony A- started out bad but has made many improvements and still pushing games
nint F solely on their marketing

Nintendo: A
Sony: A
Microsoft: C-
That is just based off of my enjoyment of each system.
I stopped playing 360 in 2008; Wii I have 26 games for it (Not counting VC) and DS/DSiware I have 22 games; PS3 I have 21 games for it and I have 2 PSP games.
I didn't count Wii U or 3DS because those are not 7th Generation systems.
In what context? Altogether?
Sony: C+
Microsoft: B-
Nintendo: C-
PC for lolz: A
Sony had a ton of mistakes and the PS3 was harder to develop for, but they made some great first parties.
I'm no fan of the consoles from Microsoft, but they did make a good effort this gen when it comes down to everything. They lacked first parties, but their multiplats were usually great.
Nintendo did a great job with the Wii, but its definitely not something I liked myself. The DS was pretty ace though. Too bad the Wii even if it did well held it back when it comes to my bias as a gamer.
Sony is the only one that seemed to really make an effort.
Basically, Sony got drunk before the fight and MS had them on the ropes, but then we found out that MS was narcoleptic. Sony went home, sobered up, trained a little and came back swinging. MS is still passed out on the mat.
All the while, Nintendo hit the jack pot at the casino and couldn't believe it themselves. So they went home and rested on beds made of gold wondering what it was that they did right.
This is the only truth.
Microsoft - A
Reason: $500 million quarterly profits from their gaming division, which is larger than both SONY's and Nintendo's quarterly profits combined. Microsoft also expanded their marketshare by more than 200% since the first xbox.
Microsoft, once again, satisfies their stock holders. Keep up the good work, Micro.
SONY - F
Reason: $6 billion wasted on R&D for a garbage CPU that's on-par with Microsoft's Xenon processor. Puny $15 million quarterly profits from their playstation division. Went from 1st to 3rd place in the course of 1 generation. Seriously, how can you screw yourself THAT much in such a short amount of time?
Nintendo: C
Reason: Nintendo satisfied their stockholders for the first couple of years of this generation, but the steam quickly ran out and now Nintendo is playing catch-up. U sales are terribad and their stockholders are restless.

Haha interesting way of putting it, but seems to describe it pretty well.
