so yeah If you do the math ps3 user base just isn't as good as the ps1 or ps2 and people just aren't buying a ton of playstation games like they were when the ps2 was out

so my question is will Gran Turismo 5 be the worst selling GT ever made and did sony put too much time into knowin that it isn't gonna sell as much?

naw..I know lots who said they were buying a ps3 when GT5 comes out so I am not so sure about that.. not rulling it out that it could be the worst but I wouldn't be too shocked if it sold very very well.

IF GTP5 sold 5 million, it will sell at least 5+ million.

GT5P sold like 4 million already didn't it? That's just a demo version so I would expect much more from the actual game.

I'm pretty sure it'll be a system seller, but yeah, it wouldn't hurt to be realistic about the current install base and potential sales. I wouldn't be surprised if Reach beats it this holiday, though it'd be interesting to see if it catches up long-term.

I don't think it will be too hard to beat GT PSP.

The PS2's install base was under 15 million when Gran Turismo 3 came out.

Gran Turismo 3 went on to sell 18 million copies worldwide.

Depends what factors are playing a role nowadays.

I'm not sure how popular they are on the PC, but realistic racing simulators (ones that are actually realistic, and not bumper car sims) seem to have grown in popularity on the PC platform in the past few years, and the PC is quite popular in Europe as far as I know, so perhaps some have moved onto that.

Forza is the same way. I know Forza isn't incredibly popular, but it's still a game that hit multi-platinum, so perhaps some fans migrated to that series.

If we exclude GT PSP (as if anyone remembers it anyways), then I'd say it might be the least selling. GT4 is currently the lowest with around 10 million though right?

That depends on how many people were disappointed with Prologue.

And with a 30-something million install base, it definitely won't be going anywhere near 10 million any time soon. Racing games aren't THAT popular, even Gran Turismo. Unless of course they bundle it for a couple years.

I dunno I think it'll sell pretty well 8m+, I just don't get the hype about it based on what I've played from the previous GT games. They were ok, but not great, then again I'm not into racing sims, but honestly I have never at all found the GT series appealing. I could make a list of 5-10 games coming out this holiday I would buy ahead of GT5.
