Is it just me or did a huge gaming convention just happen where alot of games where shown off and previewed and now alot of gaming sites and magazines are publishing these articles and their thoughts on getting their hands on alot of these games?
Its not just me? Ok good, thought I was going crazy for a second there.

nobody got their hands on GT5 during E3......Case in point, if it were indeed that close to completion, we'd have seen it during E3. Sony and Microsoft were both showing games off that were due late into next year, and yet GT5 wasn't demoed but the PSP version was. I'm thinking we'll see it holiday 2010 at the earliest.

I know, I know, my point is that with the game taking so long, people are going to expect something beyond the expectations they have been building up for years.

Typically when a company doesn't show a game during E3 means that the game isn't close to completion and not at a point to be shown to the public. I've love to hear why one of Sony's FLAGSHIP games weren't shown at E3....

dude....playstation magazine previews games that are coming in upcoming months........and they usually play a pretty much completed version.......r u kidding me holiday 2010....?Just coming off of E3 I'm not surprised to see any magazine checking out any game right now. If it was coming in the coming months, we'd have gotten a release date during their Press Event or shortly there after. It would have been a huge announcement and this is a highly anticipated game and I doubt Sony would put off a release date on something this big just to take some notes on Froza 3 and see where Microsoft is at with a game which just recently got a release date. And if they were doing that, it just means that they are fearful that Froza 3 will be better than Grand Turismo 5 which has been in development alot longer than Froza 3....
Seems like wishful thinking to me that this game will be out by the end of the year.

well HOPEFULLY the mag will have a release date for it.....they usually do.....Wishful thinking like I said, I highly doubt we'll be seeing a release date but rather a check up on how this game is doing since Polyphony was more caught up with Gran Turismo Portable.

I have no doubt F3 will be good but I just have a feeling GT5 is going to blow people away.
someone saw the future and showed the game getting 10/10 on gamespot.......even had a pic to prove it.....Expectations will kill GT5

There's very little there to support Gran Turismo 5 releasing this year though, almost a no show at E3, very little reported on the game in general. Sony is definitely going to take time to build up the hype on this one (like with MAG, Uncharted 2, and God of War 3). I'm not saying the game won't be good but I just don't see us being that close to this game coming out (end of this year) and both Sony and Polyphony being completely silent about it.
Gran Turismo Portable is set for an October 1st 2009 so keeping that in mind I think they (Sony and Polyphony) will focus on the PSP edition first then turn their attention to Grant Turismo 5 setting a release date for about the same time next year so they can have 2 successful holiday seasons in a row and keep the fanbase completely happy.
From a business stand point (which we have to remember these are both businesses here) it wouldn't be a wise choice to release 2 Gran Turismo games so close to each other especially considering how much time each takes to get going. Distancing their releases will max out profits and give gamers a chance to really play both without having to make a choice between the two or cram on either.

It wouldn't be wise to release both at the same time, the same IP in the same quarter for two different platforms. That would be a great quarter, but it would be blowing the company's entire load in one year leaving question marks for the next year financially. That would be true if we were talking about Polyphony on their own. But Polyphony is subsidiary of Sony. And Sony is supporting two platforms, which are both in desperate need of a sales boost. The handheld and home console market are almost considered two different markets. GTPSP and GT5 might take a few sales from each other, but they are not necessarily competition. GTPSP is not the full experience of GT5, and GT5 can't be taken on the road, they can easily coexist, and give a much needed push to both platforms. GTPSP in October, and GT5 in December would be a great movekejigoto
With that said I don't think we will see GT5 this year simply because it's not ready
i'll surely get the mag to see their impressions on GT5... however i highly doubt the game will be released in 2009.. Lets hopeGT5 gets shipped/released by Febuary/March 2010..
ha a preview of a replay..daveg1
if its a replay, then someone must have played it actually, am i right?
Seriously are there people who truly believe GT5 is not already at an advanced stage with finished tracks / many cars on which journalists can have a go and try the game??come on....
Most probably GT5 is at its final stages were devs refine/polish stuff and maybe finishing the final car models available... The extra time will be testing everything considering its a huge exclusive on which Sony & PS3 fans look forward to.. the competition from Forza3 may have also been another factor which made PD do some tweaks to the gameplay in order to release the best racing game on consoles...

I'd assume it's because it would over shadow Gran Turismo PSP, which they heavily touted as a flagship title which will be available at the PSPgo launch. Having a playable version at E3 would kinda make GT PSP less impressive don't you think? Although it might not be the reason, that's the reason I think they didn't have a demo at E3.It's only been in dev for 3 years at most. They announced GT5 just in 2007. They developed Tourist Trophy after GT4. People act like it's been 5 years or something :?.Everybody is tired of previews, extended demos, etc.

Yeah, the project has been technically in development for about 4 years. But in between GT4 and now they've released TT in 2006 and GT PSP later this year. Yamauchi even said that various projects effected the dev process of GT5. We've been actually anticipating it more lol, and lack of info doesn't help the scenario.[QUOTE="Alpha-Male22"]

Although it might not be the reason, that's the reason I think they didn't have a demo at E3.Actually I think showing the two side by side would have been a great idea. Definitely give everyone an idea of the scale of the PSP version compared to the PS3 version and really show how much effort has gone into the game. Both games are major flagship titles for their respected platforms and I think Sony is going to give each of them their full attention.
All we can really do is wait and see at this point, but as it stands now there is a TBA for 2009 yet very little info for the game beyond that to back anything up. We didn't see a playable demo during E3 and it was hardly shown at all, the main focus seems to be on the PSP edition at this point and with 2009 rapidly buring through its first 2 quarters and only 2 more remaining, you'd think by now we'd at least have it narrowed down to which quarter it would launch or even a Fall 2009 or Winter 2009 release date. Typically it doesn't look good for a games release date when time is ticking by and nothing has been officially said yet.
Just think back to when Grand Theft Auto IV was supposed to launch back in fall of 2007 (October I think). We were about a month from the release date and nothing had really come out about the game and they hadn't really shown off that much gameplay. Shortly after the release date was pushed way back. Gran Turismo 5 is on that same path at this point. Unless some serious information is released here soon about this game, I'd just gear up getting it next year and focus on what is definitely coming out this year.
