Graphics for next gen?

How advanced do you think graphics for next generation will be?

IMO, it could probably be as advanced as CGI in FFXIII? It'd make sense. Seeing that the CGI in most games this gen are a bit more advanced than Crysis. Mind you, I am a n00b when it comes to technical stuff like processors and GPUs etc.

i read it somewhere that this is as graphicall as its gonna get so next gen i dont think its gonna be any advance but rather inovation

Probably around the quality of some Crysis mods...unless they go the Wii way(consoles,that is):PArach666

The next set of consoles will be what Pc users have been using foryears. All you need to do with the next set of consoles is add more memory and add $100 Pc Gpu (ATI 4850,Nvidia GTS 250) and consolers will be like OMG the Graphics!

I just hope theres alot more charactors on screen with no frame rate drops and 1080p.

if the person in the game doesnt look as real as your hand it isnt the best graphics possible

I'm expecting then to have a better graphics card than a GTX 480. When the 360 was released the GPU it had was more advance than any GPU out there, even if it only was for a few weeks/months.

It will look better than Crysis 1 almost way better. The next gen consoles will come out in about 2-3 years, that means by then new graphics card will be more advanced as they are now. Example of this is the new handhelds (PSP 2, N3DS), they are supposed to have the same graphic quality as last gen (gamecube, ps2, xbox). So we can expect by 2013 that the graphics cards they put in consoles will be a big jump.

Next gen consoles will launch for $250, so there won't be much improvement. Just like the GC -> Wii.

They will produce graphics that are a generation ahead of Crysis...

Hardware is cheap now so expect a big leap, not big enough to make $600 systems again

And if you want powerhouses you wont get them, if you expect low prices. If you want direct x 11 gpu's 6-8 core cpu's and 4gb with the consoles expect $700+ priced consoles. They will use older tech/cheaper tech to save money while giving consolers a upgraded console from todays, with$100 type of pc gpu's.

The future

Maybe native 1080p, even 1200p? maybe the same as a high end pc of today?elchiquilin

Well resolution and graphics are two different things. But I'd rather they just focus on making as many games native 1080p as possible for next-gen. Instead of coming out with an even higher resolution that most games wont even support. Like what happened this gen with 1080p. Most games this gendont support it.

I think the biggest constraint for graphics, at this point, is time. They can probably do better than they are now, but simply don't have the time to do it all before their games are supposed to ship. I expect next gen to be graphically on par with this gen, but have higher resolutions and better framerates.

I'd rather see much more interactivity with game worlds rather than better graphics to be honest. A game that looks great, but you can't really do anything in isn't as exciting as a game that looks okay but everything has an interaction.

I think of RE5, a game that had good graphics, but the the game world was so static it was pointless.

Crysis with it's best looking mods would be amazing at 1080p native resolution on a console.

Pretty damn certain all consoles will go the Wii way next gen.

Else it'll be a mass dev suicide. No company would be safe from bankruptcy with a big jump in graphics from this gen.

It's nasty to think that Ubisoft can make over a billion dollars off games like Assassin's Creed 2, hundreds of millions off other games like Just Dance, and still come out in the red.

And it's not just them. Dozens of devs are in the red quarter after quarter.

i can see Sony doing a wii-esque approach but beefing up the bluray so it would be a PS3.5 in a way.Dunno bout MS depends on how much of the casual market gets intrested in natal.

But i agree it would be madness to jump another big step.

Graphics aren't the only improvement i'm expecting. Physics needs to be way better too. Most of games on a current gen system have last gen physics and thats suck becouse great physics improves gameplay a lot. Graphics of CGI FF13 won't happen but i think it'll be a big difference (just like from ps2 to ps3, from xbox to 360 and GC to Wii... oh wait lol)silversix_

That will probably change when Crysis 2 comes out for console. But yes, Physics should have massive improvements since each console will probably have hardware accellerated physics.

Consoles will look considerably better then Crysis with mods,and PC will look about the same when consoles come out...when year or two passes PCs are going for CGI.

as a gfx whore, i think the next generation of consoles will be the last one. Yeah, gfx will be that good !!!! :D
