But when asked the flame war inducing question,"which console is actually more powerful?"

Shippy tells Gamasutra, "I'm going to have to answer with an 'it depends.' Again, they're completely different models. So in the PS3, you've got this Cell chip which has massive parallel processing power, the PowerPC core, multiple SPU cores… it's got a GPU that is, in the model here, processing more in the Cell chip and less in the GPU. So that's one processing paradigm -- a heterogeneous paradigm."

"With the Xbox 360, you've got more of a traditional multi-core system, and you've got three PowerPC cores, each of them having dual threads -- so you've got six threads running there, at least in the CPU. Six threads in Xbox 360, and eight or nine threads in the PS3 -- but then you've got to factor in the GPU," Shippy explains. "The GPU is highly sophisticated in the Xbox 360."

"At the end of the day, when you put them all together, depending on the software, I think they're pretty equal."

Maybe if there wasn't a thread last week that was exactly the same thing as yours I would be more interestedDiviniuz
If repetition offends you, I trust I'll be seeing you in every other thread repeating the same sentiment over and over since SW essentially consists of the same 10-15 arguments repeated in a never-ending cycle. No? Then why single this guy out?

Too bad the port sucks. I'd rather take the 360 version over PC.

Sounds about right. I would say current PS3 developers have done a better job over all with their hardware than current 360 devs. Games like Uncharted, MGS 4, Killzone 2, etc are pretty much unmatched by most things, with the exception of GeoW 2. Rare games look nice though. Helps there are more of them I guess.

Still, the graphics war ended over a year ago when Crysis was released.

Well it could be a half truth (Edit: Sounded similar.). What they are saying could just mean that it uses the PS3's architecture in a way that the 360 could not manipulate, meaning it would be unportable, similar to how MGS4 can not be easily ported. It's been said mostly for hype purposes. Though if it had been on 360 it would have probably looked inferior with out the support of Sony and the developers superior understanding of the platform.

This was actually stated right around the PS3 at launch when people realized the PS3 wasn't going to literally be "4x as powerful" as the 360 when in fact they are pretty much dead even.

Crysis wins. Gameplay and story should be the main focus, as well as pyhsics. I think graphics improvement shouldn't go too far over crysis.

What developers? fanboys from system wars aren't developers and real developers disagree with you buddy ;).

Realllly? "I would say impossible," said Steven Ter Heide when asked if Killzone 2 would work on Xbox 360. "We literally can't do this stuff on any machine other than the PS3. If you're developing a multiplatform game, and looking at your budgets, you have to find a common denominator between the systems and say: that's what I'm developing for. Whereas someone focused on a single platform can really take advantage of everything it has to offer." He continued commenting that "If you're not willing to make that investment then you're going to lose out on some options. To make it simple, the Xbox 360 doesn't have SixAxis or Blu-ray. PlayStation 3 does. And for us that's a really big thing. The level you've just seen is 2GB. We really need Blu-ray to make the game. I don't know how you could fit it on Xbox 360 without taking some shortcuts." They've also mentioned that they are maxing out the Cell at points in the game. I don't understand how they can port the game to 3 cores when they are maxing out 6. And if it is possible, why haven't we seen a game on 360 that looks as good as KZ2? Just thinking out loud.

There was already a thread earlier this week/last week stating the same thing.Diviniuz
Well tell that to the 200 threads a day that still argue the facts. The thing I have noticed here on system wars is ...PEOPLE DONT LISTEN. Thats always facinated me. We as people are supposed to be smart, and able to learn. But for some reason, you have people here that will argue things all day.

NOW for me the 360 and PS3 are almost identical beasts...BUT I dont stop there..FOR "ME", PC's are not but about 3% better than consoles "graphically" ...This is my opinion. So to me the playing field is equal all the way around. There really isnt anything to argue about here..

Whereas someone focused on a single platform can really take advantage of everything it has to offer." Oh boy really? i can prove you wrong easily 1) What else would they say? Sony is paying their bills  2)They haven't touch an xbox360 dev kit in their life. 3)Microsoft doesn't need a game like KZ2 right now, sony needs it ;) 4)Real game developers disagree with GG about KZ2 graphics not being possible on xbox360 http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=51783&page=3 and these guys work with xbox360 and ps3,they aren't fanboys like yourself talking nonsenses.

[QUOTE="crozon"]well not too long now and we'll see if KZ2 is console graphics king. and please change the topic headline, the PC says hi. Games simply look better on the PC. GTAIV looks amazing on the PC in comparrsion to my PS3 copy.Epak_

Too bad the port sucks. I'd rather take the 360 version over PC.

the pc version still runs better than the 360 version on 360 settings on a 8600gt and it looks and runs much better on a 8800gt than on x360

hasn't this always been the case? i haven't seen anything on either console that couldn't be done on the other. Gears of War could be done on the ps3 its the unreal engine so of course it could be. Same with Killzone 2 it looks really good but its nothing i don't think the 360 couldn't handle. Its not like last gen, where a game like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theroy on the xbox looked sooooooo much better than anything the ps2 could do. Neither console has pulled away in terms of graphics.

Both consoles are equal, just different architectures KZ2 benefits itself for years under development, money and dedication from the developers.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/945/945812p1.html

NO!!!

You mean to tell me a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment said that the Playstation 3's flagship 2009 exclusive couldn't be done on a competing console? :o

Stop the freaking presses!

Graphics war was over before it started. The PC won it.

Say what you will but I am no more impressed with Killzone 2 after seeing that GIF than before I saw it. I just looks average to me in gameplay and nothing special in the visuals either.
