I was in the Beta for this Slant Six discrace that has been made that has ruined the Socom name. And it was trash in the beta. So I waited. And downloaded the Socom the other day. Yeah it has been cleaned up a bit. But it is still buggy as all heck and still a bit laggy and still has lockups.

And I say again to myself a game like GRAW 2 that has better graphics more on screen and better everything coop and single player. And Slant Six can not even get a game to run barley decent.

Honeslty STINK 6 should be burned at the stake. They are low rent trailer park in regards to developers. Sony should really be ashamed they let these sorry developers ruin a good Sony franchise like this. Not like Sony can afford to have anymore negitive at this point.

WOW Slant Six you should all just go back to stocking shelfs somewhere your coding and Q&A are PATHETIC.

I just read "I downloaded it", so I assumed you meant the beta.

In any case, comparing the two is pretty hard. One game has a single player, the other is simply multiplayer. While I enjoyed GRAW2's multiplayer when I first played it, it didn't stick as well. While now I'm starting to like SOCOM and regardless of it's bugs (which the next patch I believe will fix), and I think it'll be fun and plus, it was only $40, so big whoop.

My point is months after release the game is still a joke with bugs and lag. And it did not even have anything other then multiplayer.

My point is clearly STINK 6 is a low rent developer.

Didn't they develop SOCOM 2 or something? Wasn't that pretty good? Course I'm not really into the SOCOM series.

Socom: Confrontation is absolutely great imo.. in terms of a "tactical shooter", you'd be hard pressed to find a game that's more rooted in realism, skill, and tension.. realistic weapon recoil, no-respawn by default, outstanding map design, scaled maps for 8, 16, and 32 players, great game types/modes, detailed clan support, and more.. GRAW 2 is "ok".. Socom: Confrontation is simply better (imo) if you're looking for an intense tactical shooter that's going to continue to receive updates, support, and growth for years to come..

and please, if you're talking about "lags and bugs" then you've lost most of your credibility right there.. the 1.20 patch fixed all of that a long time ago and the 1.30 patch (which should be here next week) is going to make even more additions/improvements.. so yea, you can save that dead argument..

I beleive it has been Zipper that has been involved with Socom until STINK 6 took over for this latest Socom naked gun 4 1/2:lol:

Probably everything in the Beta was fixed in the actual game. The beta, was, indeed terrible, I was in it, too, from Qore... It was unplayable for me, at least. I now have the game. Not only is the headset awesome, but the game is also VERY fun.

Yeah, well said. Socom may not be aesthetically pleasing, but everything under the hood is great. If I were to compare Confrontation to GRAW 2, I'd begin and end it with map design. Socom's maps are varied, promote team play, and doesn't condense firefights to one area like most shooters. GRAW's map were meh :(.

Honestly...I have played thousands of betas and demos and 99% of the time they are EXACTLY like the finished product. So almost every time you can judge a game by the beta/demo.

I absolutely despise GRAW, but I must admit that it's better than Confrontation. Sony really dropped the ball with this Socom installment, sadly. Atleast I only paid $10 for it (headset came with it, which is $49.99 on its own).

If it wasn't for SOCOM there wouldn't be a GRAW. SOCOM is the true original 3rd person tactical console shooter. Don't talk of what you dont know.

And trust me, I've played Gears 2, and although it's a good online game, it's NOTHING compared to socom in terms of skill required and teamwork. Gears 2 online isn't even as robust as SOCOM's either. Also, don't talk about bugs and glitches when Gears 2 suffers the same fate. Enimies not getting knocked back by melee, shotgun point blank range and not hurting them, chainsaw bug where at times the chainsaw wouldn't work at all or even lock on. These problems may be scarce, but its the same for SOCOM.

even though socom confrontation isnt a real socom game isnt made by zipper interactive the people who invented the franchise.

it's still better gameplay wise than graw because they follow the core gameplay of zipper's past games.

yes ghost recon did start before...socom but it was first person...they didnt make third person one untill after socom.

but socom's gameplay is better...socom you can jump...no ghost recon game lets you jump.

socom wins.

Of course the Ghost recon franchise started before SOCOM. But you said "Ghost recon advance warfighter" (GRAW) which is when the ghost recon series took a turn in gameplay and graphics. And when it did, it was exactly like SOCOM 1 and 2.

The really good maps in SOCOM are the re-made ones, which are most of them. The ones that /6 made are inferior. though still good.

SOCOM: Conf. is a great online tactical game that will only get better especially with the new update due next week or the following. Even with many of the features missing like in game quick invite and quick play it overshadows GRAW. I hear lots of complains about the graphics but to me they are just right with realistic lighting that affects the draw distance and angles of where you are looking. The only complain i have is there is no FP mode like previous installments.

Crashing is hardly a game problem, I've had more then enough Gears of war 2, GRAW 2. Oblivion, LittleBigPlanet crashes to know that its a natural part of a gaming machines lifetime. The PS2 had lockups and crashes, The Xbox 360 has crashes and lockups as well as some other few very big problems and the PS3 has crashes and lockups as well. Oblivion on the PS3 I've had crash quite a few times before. I dont really see a reason to complain when the PC is the home of crashing and locking up while Consoles do well since there technicially uniformed. Now being buggy is something......that Oblivion had a huge issue with, especially the PC version and alot of games have. But I'll admit bugs are much less common on the console games.

Although both games seem very comparable you have to remember GRAW 2 is not aiming for die hard realism. If it was so the enemy AI wouldnt sprint and snipe you, and still hit you. SOCOM is known for realism. They both may have the same setting - Navy seal/marine VS terrorists but there hardly similar besides that. Take the games Project Gotham Racing and Gran Turismo. Both have same setting/backround but both aim for different things, Project Gotham racing is not realism, its plain fun and addictive, Gran Turismo is where realism comes in. A better comparison would probably be The Force Unleashed which is a dissapointment and then Star wars episode three. Both are set in star wars, like both GRAW 2 and SOCOM are set in the military vs terrorists aspect, Episode three and SWTFU you use a lightsaber user but Episode three is much more lightsaber orientated which is why it is better for lightsaber battles. Like both GRAW 2 and SOCOM you usually use a rifle e.g. M16. Comparing them I consider to be more of a battle of personal preferance.

SOCOM 2 and Confrontation are the only ones bothered keeping/owning. Even with the upgrades in Confrontation, I'd still pick GRAW 2 over it.

Online co-op campaign, online co-op elimination mode against bots.... add to that more maps makes GRAW 2 the default winner in my book.

SOCOM easily has BETTER maps, though. They remade a lot of old ones, but the old ones are purely fun to play. Some of the best maps I've played in any multiplayer game.

[QUOTE="VoodooHak"]Online co-op campaign, online co-op elimination mode against bots.... add to that more maps makes GRAW 2 the default winner in my book.GodofBigMacs
SOCOM easily has BETTER maps, though. They remade a lot of old ones, but the old ones are purely fun to play. Some of the best maps I've played in any multiplayer game.

Given time, I'm sure SOCOM may offer more maps for download. Both games offer varied settings, well thought-out choke points and variable elevations, some parts symetrical, others organic. "Better", when comparing the maps of these two games, is really sujbective.

For me, it's going to boil down to variety in gameplay, which GRAW his over SOCOM: C.

I.agree.with.both.of.you...and.why.lems.are.in.this.thread.talking.down.Socom.without.even.playing.the.game.is.not.only.expected.but.pathetic.

I've always preferred Ghost Recon to Socom, haven't played Confrontations though.

You should. But you should probably get it after 1.30 is released.
