Great graphics doesn't mean a game will be great

Funny, all the hands on reviews of Crysis so far have been VERY positive in all aspects.

Below average graphics Wii games are not gaurenteed good gameplay either.

Graphics are a very big factor though

If Gears had the graphics of Halo 1 with the same exact gameplay

It wouldnt have even gotten AA or its numerough game of the year awards

Great graphics don't equal a great game yeah, doesn't cement the fact it'll be crap either.

Obviously people do take in what hands-on previews have to say, along with developer interviews and footage of the game in action to decide whether or not they'll enjoy the game. It's not all about graphics you know, that's just one aspect certain games seem to shine in.

Great graphics don't guarantee great gameplay but it seems lousy graphics guarantee lousy gameplay.

IMO depends if the graphics look insanely awesome that means Devs put a lot of time in the game making it perfect,Crysis for example.Great games seem to have great graphics.

IMO, Killzone 2 looks incredibly boring right now and is only getting hyped because it has good graphics. if it had crappier graphics, it would just be another no attention exclusive._KenKittyragi_

Since when action FPS are boring :|.The trailer was a bit boring but when they show the in-game stuff it looked awesome.For example crappier graphics would make any game look bad from Final fantasy to Halo and Crysis.

Most of the Hand-on-reviews of Crysis state that the AI is amazing, even considering the fact that they are on easy.

Gears of war has had the freshest take on a 3rd Person Shooter in a very long time (save Resident Evil 4)

I will take that as a big "I dunno".The point is that it seems that there isnt a game with good graphics that is absolutely craptacular in fact i think this is proving that Graphics actually guarantee good games.7.0 or higher

EDIT: But I will agree with you, that for the most part, great games have great graphics. They mostly coincide, and yes, many do not seem to realize this also. Great graphics are a part of immersion among other things, and they also convey polish and attentiveness by the developer.

Yeah, I edited, I mostly agree with you, I just don't think the game has good graphics per se....just has a large scope (like you said)

which became extremely dull after the first dozen "monsters jump out of the shadows/around the corner/through the floor" events. seriously, the hallways all looked alike, nothing happened storywise. playing Doom 3 was like going about your ordinary life without sleeping in 4 days. everything's a copy... of a copy... of a copy...

gears is just way too overated, should have got a solid 9 at the most. the online was too repetetive and too short of a story. i buy other games like command and conquer, forza 2, rainbow six, cod3

and I don't see how I can be "ignorant" if I was sincerely bored withGeOW's firefights on Insane difficulty. great graphics, tight controls, but the gameplay just lost it's ability to be interesting after the first playthrough. just a little to repetitive, and the enemies of Halo 2 were better adversaries.

Although open to criticism like every game i did find Doom 3 enjoyable. GeoW game me 2 weeks play then shelved. As for Crysis i think this will be the best FPS period. Oh not including the original Doom :P

The only people who bring threads like this up are console kiddies who fear the true power of a PC........lol

Face facts Crysis will rock in graphics and gameplay, we have seen enough to how how next gen consoles suck ass. MGS4 will rock in gameplay but won't be able to match its rivals for pure visuals. Japanese games don't stretch boundaries in the technical department.
