Saw the demo of Bioshock Infinite and decided to pick up Bioshock. It's pretty good and definitely not generic but not amazing, I sort of get the feeling I will need to play it a second time in order to piece together all the parts of the story more conclusively.
on halo ce you escape in dropship and ecape into space. on unreal 2 the samething happens. this ending was ripped off aliens 1# movie. i still think unreal 2 is the best story based fps ever because what happens is unexpected.
The original halo is great, but generally speaking the early 2000 era of pc fps games are the best. The ones in the vein of Ghost Recon, Deus Ex, and Rainbow Six--the ones only playable on a pc, and also a brand of fps that is no longer in existence unfortunately.
What happened in unreal 2 caught me off guard you dont know really how it's gonna end if u havent played it suggest you do and see the real story. the only cliched part was him escaping into dropship and floating off into space and game ends. STORY IS 10X less predictable than halo ce.
There is no single-greatest of anything because our opinions of what make an amazing game differ to much. However there are a handful that people consider the best.

I would say these four stand out as ones that usually are referred to as the best single player FPSs to date.
Perfect Dark on the N64. I liked how the icnreasing difficulty added more objectives to the mission, and the exploration of the levels. And although breaks the single player mold, it had both counter-coop and regular co-op. So far ahead of it's time...
Bioshock all the way! I'm surprised The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher hasn't gotten some more love. That game is spectacular and really underrated here on SW.

Here we respect Riddick the problem is that it's dubious to proclaim it a FPS when there are a lot of levels were you aren't even given a gun and you have to use stealth and just fist fight or use a blade or something and others were you have to collect stuff to advance in the game as if in a action adventure game.
Hal-life 2? No, Half-life 1 (along blue shift and opposing force) is way better.
Crysis ? No, Far Cry 1 is better
Halo? Hell no, that game sucks
Fear is cool, but Doom 3 is way better and its a instant classic, unlike Fear.
Bioshock is awesome, deserves its masterpiece status.

You surprised me at there there, I thought you were going say System Shock 2 was much better than Bioshock. :P Also from what I've gather everyone says Doom 3's single player was horrible, it wasn't Doom and they didn't do the horror thing right. I've played ANY of the Doom games though...

I got the game for free and played a little bit of it. All you get is the Portal gun, right? Then how can it be a SHOOTER if you don't SHOOT things...? :P It's a first person puzzle.
