Good news, the userbase of HD consoles are growing and niche games are starting to sell combined on both platforms. I also cant wait for Japans greater contribution to HD systems, something that will grow a whole lot not next year.

But ive always said this, MS has NO REASON to end early, they too have the capability to go for 10 years.

This is why it's waaaaaaaaay too early to tell which console will "win the console war". Don't expect a PS4 or XB 720 anytime soon. Wii 2 on the other hand might not be far off...

this is about right...360 and ps3 don't need to be upgraded. The Wii has a lot of Room...HD, Better Online, and built inMotion +...maybe even more buttons on the wii remote!

Hm? I didn't see them talking about niche games in that article, can you pull out a quote?

Im saying games that arent as popular as say sports or shooters are now selling better simply because of the fact that both the 360 and PS3 are now sitting on good userbases.

I see the "10 year cycle" claim coming from both Sony and MS and I only half believe it.

On the one hand, given the current state of the global economy, I do not think it would be wise to put out a new system within the next 2 years. On the other hand, Sony and MS could be doing this to throw off each other. They could be in the process of and R & D for a new system now, waiting for the economy to turn around to release it.

There are advantages to sticking with a 10 year life cycle for both, but has past generations have proven, it is also advantageous to be first to market.

I don't WANT it, but I know it will happen.... if not 5 years, certainly not 10 years. I'd say we're halfway through or more.

If you really spend more than the amount of time it took you to write this post worrying about this than you should introspect, son.

Does that mean that if you only worry about it in the time it takes to read through the thread, you're absolved of introspection?

Any sort of worry I may have had about this issue was quickly rendered ridiculous by the realization of my pubis. and the fact that you have established a confirmation bias, resulting in an expenditure of valuable psychic energy, towards a matter in which you have so very very little control over and such very very little stake in.

sounds about right considering that pc technology hasn't humiliated the consoles yet. That is the sure way to tell that a generation change is coming.

I agree. I don't see an upgrade from the 360 nor PS3 happening for a while. However, I would like to see Nintendo go up a bit in the same level as the HD consoles someday.

Then we are united in our ridiculousness. Viva System Wars.

I have no real worries about buying a Xbox 360 currently now, because I have at least some confirmation that they won't leave the 360 soon.. Other then the fear of hardware failure, but I don't think it will fail.

Not me, they can do plenty more with the current consoles. Dont expect a new Sony or MS console for about 5 years or so. Plenty of time for Sony to be #1.
