I've been seeing how the GT5 demo looks "bad" and such, but even though PD has stated that this demo should only represent the games final physics engine, it still looks better than Forza Motorsport 3.

Also, for those who don't know. The Speedway isn't much of an "exciting" track.. so don't expect anything more than a "bland" track.

Why do you care that much about Fanboys who says GT5 graphics looks bad anyone sees that Demo video can tell GT5 graphics>Forza3 its just that the graphics in the demo are far from the bullshots which PD was showing us who knows since the demo is 220 MB only then this might not be the final game graphics or whatever it is.

It's obvious they don't look like the bullshots... and what else is there to talk about? If I wanted to talk about the physics, I'd go to GTPlanet... which is already where I go. No one cars about the graphics there since they already know better than that.

It looks great and it will play great...game will be AAA for sure, only problem is that a lot of fanboys were posting bullshots looking like real life so in the end they prove to them self that it will look like that...there is no need for damage control, game looks great but not graphic king-photorealistic great...

This is from another post: "With that said, someone with access to the demo also received an email from Sony that wanted to emphasize this is not a demo of Gran Turismo 5, and is only being released for GT Academy. Polyphony Digital has also posted a new press release, clearly stating the demo was "specifically designed for this competition to showcase the realism of the brand-new physics engine" and nothing more. " As well as this tidbit from here... http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5147.html The demo was specifically designed for this competition to showcase the realism of the brand-new physics engine and to challenge players' driving skills using professional driving physics and many of the driving assists disabled. The full Gran Turismo 5 will feature multiple driving assists and various settings that can be changed to make the game easier or more challenging and realistic." This should calm things down

the car details are top notch but the enviro's are ok the tree's bring it down a fair bit imo altho it looks really smooth and pristine :P should be nice.Im being honest it will be a close call between this and Forza anyone who thinks either one will outright trash the other is really on a hiding to nothing or justa fanboy. Both will be AAA games and will provide hours of endless enjoyment altho 1 will have slightly diffrent features from the other its gonna be your best bet to play both cause im being honest i think both are equal.

still don't understand why they would put out a demo that made their game look bad. surely the point of it is to promote the game

Its not a demo for the game its for the academy and the fact that this demo will be removed from PSN servers when the competition is over at 25/1/2010 shows us that its not an official demo for the game cuz game demos doesn't get removed from PSN.

it doesnt look bad by any means. It looks about like forza3. I think people are just surprised that its not much better than Forza3 (if any), especially considering the time that PD took to develop this game.

Forza 3 has an overall better look, so for me thats why it edges GT5P, but i have no doubt in my mind GT5 will be superior.

Cars are all that matters? So you don't need a track, barriers or an environment to race in? Or are you saying as long as the cars look shiny you could have snes graphics for the rest and you wouldn't notice?

Either statement seems ridiculous to me so maybe you meant something else?

Yes, how the cars look is all that matters. Environments don't have to be great. The environments in GT5P (and the ones I've seen in GT5 vids) aren't as good as Forza 3's, but they are sufficient enough.

They don't matter much, though. Cars are what counts, and they look better in both GT5P, and in the GT5 vids and pics I've seen.

i play in the bumper view. so i never really get to see the car. so the environments are pretty important to me

So now the environments need to be a 'sufficient' to be acceptable? I'm confused, you say one thing but it sounds just like damage control and I'm trying to work out why.

What about those who play from perspectives other than rear bumper cam? Is it only the look of the cars that matters to them?

People need to face facts and understand it simply isn't going to look much better than Forza 3, if at all. PD sold you all down the river, get over it.

lol, Do some people look at the environments while playing these games or something instead of focusing on the racing? If environments matter that much, why even play the games? You think me or anyone else is going to play GT5 to look at the trees? You think people play Forza 3 to look at the trees? When you think about it, environments are not important in a racing game. They just... aren't. Forza 3's look better than GT5P, or GT5's, big deal. They don't matter anyway.

no one said it looked "bad" TC...don't get your fanboy panties in a bunch

all they said is that it doesn't look as good as the bullshots and only slightly upgraded from prologue, which IS true

and prologue looked great too, which means this looks great as well

Everyone needs to stop assuming that it will have bad graphics. Obviously it's not out yet and it's being polished up and it's pretty obvious it will look alot better than Forza 3. THIS IS GT5 WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!

Blazerdt47

How many developers do you know who suddenly start tweaking the graphics engine 3 months before release, on a game that's been in development for 4-5 years? Just face it, these are the final graphics. Great, better than F3 maybe, but aren't meeting the bullshots.

GT5 looks the complete opposite of bad. It looks slightly better than Forza 3, too.

Everyone needs to stop assuming that it will have bad graphics. Obviously it's not out yet and it's being polished up and it's pretty obvious it will look alot better than Forza 3. THIS IS GT5 WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!

Chutebox

How many developers do you know who suddenly start tweaking the graphics engine 3 months before release, on a game that's been in development for 4-5 years? Just face it, these are the final graphics. Great, better than F3 maybe, but aren't meeting the bullshots.

What game's graphics ever meet the bullshots?

Of the developers who so choose to release obvious bullshots, none. However, cows have been acting like GT5 screens weren't bullshots for ages now, it's time they got the same wakeup call lemmings got when the Forza 3 demo came out.

I agree, it's justified. Lord knows why they thought ps3 can do those level of graphics...

Actually I'm pretty sure I didn't forget, which is why I mentioned itin the post you quoted.

But please, feel free to direct more criticism at me, I crave the attention.

That track has no details to it, it looks like a real race track. I think that is what they are going for.

Forza 3 has some really excellent enviroments but a lot of those tracks aren't real racetracks, thus they took liberties and made the enviroments all pretty.
