Hidden away in Sony's TGS catalog was a shocking revelation: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's Japanese release date and price. Scheduled for December 13th, the game sample (demo, as we used to call) will retail for a whopping ¥4,980 ($43.10) on Blu-ray and ¥4,500 ($38.95) when downloaded through the PlayStation Store

Sorry, the demo is free.

GT5 Prologue is not a demo. It's actually a sample. It's totally ridiculous in concept, but there you go. I read a statement and it said that there was a demo for prologue (yes, really), and this demo would be free (like the GTHD demo).

GT4 Prologue wasn't free either, it still sold over a million copies...

No, it's not. GT5 is a full game.

I don't like the concept of ripping people off by making them pay for a piece of a game that they will only have to buy again later on.

It's a full game if sony says it's a full game. Doesn't matter if you like it or not.

It may not have as much value as GT5 but it's a full game, simply because it's marketed and priced that way.

everyone is getting GT5 though... Besides the SUPER HARDCORE GT nutcases. And no, I don't like being milked either.

Value isn't dictated by Sony, it's dictated by the consumer. And I as a consumer don't consider GT Prologue to be a full game, particularly when it's entitled "prologue" (as in, the introductory chapter to the full game) and doesn't feature close to the amount of tracks, cars, and features that will eventually be packed into GT5.

Oh I agree with you, believe me. It's not a good value, and sony knows poeple will buy it just because of the uber popular GT brand. Which is messed up.

BUT the fact is, it's being sold as a full game, even though it shouldn't be.

I didn't like the concept of GT4 Prologue back when they did that..

And I don't like it again.. But I guess its one of Sonys most milkable franchises.. so they are going to milk it.

Sony said I would have Tekken 6, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 in 2007.

But of course, Sony is NEVER wrong.

Thats why I bought a 360 instead of a PS3, I was tired of Sony telling me things and it not happening. Anyone remember that physics trailer they showed about what the PS3 was capable of doing? Ha, ok.

the demo wont cost that much by the time it gets here. also you cant really expect a demo with that much content to be free. I for one wont be getting it cuz im no sucker. i would have preferred a free demo with only a handful of cars and a couple tracks

I'm sorry but what?

GT 5: Prologue was comfirmed to be a free download just a few weeks ago. Its not a ful game and everybody knows it.

If the really do sell it like that then its an automatic flop. No way around it.

If there was a Halo Prologue (or something similar, since that sounds stupid), I'm willing to bet that people would buy it... The same goes for Mario games etc etc...

Honestly people, if you had a franchise like GT that sells 8+ million, wouldn't you too want to milk it? Put yourselfs in Sony's shoes, what do you think?
