I have been back and forth between an Xbox 360 and a PS3. One of the things I have been wondering, which is better...Forza motorsports or GT5?
Any opinions would be welcome.

both are great, but the wheel support on GT5 is top notch and intense(personal experience) never tried forza with a wheel though. But both are great games...Altho this will inevitably turn into a turdy score war sadly.
Forza 3 is the better game. No more needs to be said. No excuses or spins needed.SaltyMeatballsexcept youv never played GT5 but yes forza is the better game but gt seems to be the better sim from what iv played, but id still take forza
GT5 is by far a better simulator, but as far as an overall game...Forza is better.
I have both, I play both, and I actually prefer GT5. However I am disappointed with GT5 as a whole, and I could see how someone who isn't into realism getting very frustrated with GT5.
[QUOTE="kuraimen"]GT5 is a better racing sim Forza 3 is a better painting sim ;)racing1750sim + painting > sim and no painting ;)Sim + consequences for crashing your car like real life (mechanical damage) better than "sim" with no painting.
SW standards: Forza AAA, GT5 AA/flop
By my standards. GT5 failed hard, delayed multiple times..For what? Psh.
Gameplay/Physics - GT5
Customization - FM3
Graphics - GT5
Sound - Depends on the car
Menus/UI - FM3
Competitive Online - Both suck
Online features - FM3
Car list - FM3 (if you include all the DLC) both could use improvement
Sounds in FM3 > GT5 I have to say that's where FM3 is imo noticeably better.Gameplay/Physics - GT5
Customization - FM3
Graphics - GT5
Sound - Depends on the car
Menus/UI - FM3
Competitive Online - Both suck
Online features - FM3
Car list - FM3 (if you include all the DLC) both could use improvement

Well you have to be with only one GT game this gen to play :? Most of the GT fans are disappointed but still enjoy the game. I'm not satisfied, but the game is enjoyable.[QUOTE="nameless12345"]

I still dont get where people are getting the whole "better sim" thing from.
GT5 has better handling physics than Forza 3.
GT5 has more cars on track.
Forza 3 has deeper customization.
Forza 3 has deeper tuning options.
Forza 3 has deeper race options.
Forza 3 has full damage for every car in the game.
How on earth is GT5 a better sim because it does two things better than Forza 3?.

umm its a better sim( simulator) because it is the closest thing to actually driving a car. you kinda answered your own question when you said" GT5 has better handling physics than F3" but yea f3 is a better cpmplete [ackageForza 3 is better in every regard with the exception of quantity where GT5 is clearly king with 1000 cars (even though 80% of them look horrible). Forza 3 has a better selection of cars, tracks, better physics and damage. GT5 is THE most dissapointing game this generation... and probably most overhyped.
I think its a general consensus that GT5 has better driving physics. Anyways for me, its like comparing an IPhone to an Android phone. The IPhone is "the bomb" but an Android phone can be as much "the bomb" if you learn to appreciate it.Forza 3 is better in every regard with the exception of quantity where GT5 is clearly king with 1000 cars (even though 80% of them look horrible). Well I've been playing Forza since Forza Motorsport launched and have been loving it ever since, I have all the DLCs and clocked thousands of miles on all three games. You can see where this is going, I'm a Forza fanboy and have only owned Xboxes and PCs (And some nitendos in the olden days) but two days ago I said to hell with it, walked into Best Buy, grabbed myself GT5 along with a PS3 and a G27 wheel and I have to admit that as far as driving goes and actually racing GT5 wins.
Menu navigation and painting are both definitely better in Forza but customisation is kinda the same because even tho you get more options in Forza 3, you don't really need them since upgrading either the air intake or the exhaust amounts to the very same thing so upgrading your cars become somewhat redundant, slap on the diff, the suspension, the brakes, camshaft..... I feel more involved in GT5 upgrading and tuning even if there are less options because each of them feels more different to the other, I can feel the difference in my engine's performance between changing the exhaust manifold or changing the air filter, tuning is pretty much the same in both game.
The presentation is better with Forza 3 aswell. GT5 is greatly inconsistent, sometimes I'm going WOW and other times I'm wondering if this is a Wii title. GT5 shines in photo mode tho. Forza 3 looks good all around but nothing too fancy. Anyway most racing fans don't care much for the looks, driving is where it's at. The sound so far is going to Forza also. Most cars in GT5 have a generic computer generated sound which is lame, Forza 3 on the other hand has some nice sounds generally and most are unique.
The driving is better in GT5 and that does it for me. In Forza 3 I feel that all the car are on rails, either you are riding the rails or going off them. There's no in-between as in driving on the edge and pushing the car to the limit, feeling the grip fade in and out, turning aggressively and mashing the brakes while squeezing the clutch when entering the chicanes on Monza in my old Ferrari 512 just feels right. Awesomely right. The sense of speed is better in GT5, I'm actually downright scared when I'm blasting at 300 something km/h down the Mulsanne Straight. The road surface is also way better in GT5. You can feel the little nooks and crannys in the roads, the changes in elevation really do change the way your car handle and the tarmac generally feels more organic than the monotone one found in Forza 3.
The bottom line is, if you're not much of a car guy, prefers to have a nice simple time go with Forza, it's awesome, it's fun and it's accessible. If you're looking to drive, and have fun doing so, and feel greatly satisfied when it all comes together, go with GT5. I'm so tired of people bashing either game simply based on the fact that they can't play both. If you haven't played GT5 then don't say Forza 3 is better and vice versa, go ahead and try both extensively and then come here and talk about it... For me, at the moment, I'd rather own GT5 than Forza 3.

Very good critique, even though I disagree on how much you said GT5 is inconsistent. Both games arent even comparible, they both have their strong points. "Racing king" is about the personal opinion, but SW doesnt understand that.

Oh thats on pc it cant play with the big boys [forza3 and gran turismo 5].
It can't Play with the Big Boys?
What Are you Talking about?
Maybe we Need some Iracing videos...
Indycar at Chicago
Solstice at Laguna Seca
MIata MX-5 at Mid Ohio
I don't think forza or Gran turismo gets any recognition by real racing drivers. Maybe I stand corrected..
Forza 3 is amazing. I haven't gotten to play GT5 yet but it's on my Christmas list. Im still pretty sure I'll prefer Forza.
EDIT: The tuning section is quite astounding in Forza 3. I have been drifting for a little over 2 months, but most of the fun in the drifting is tuning your own cars. Getting to choose what parts go into it and finding out how the feel is priceless to me. If GT5 don't have those kind of features, then what's so great? Im not trolling GT5, im just expressing how naked it is from what I have seen so far. Tuning car's is a love/hate kind of thing but it's really important to make the game, and your car truly your own machine. Really, how many games can give you that?
