i bought gta IV yesterday and the intro scene is just awesome, than when i started playing @ night the blur level was high but it was alright. than during the day everything is so much blurred out its not acceptable. the textures the shadows and you can see 50 meters ahead of you and than the whole backrgound is blurred out. than you get the pop out wich is horrible on the npc's and cars. Is it because i am playing on vga( 22" widescreen lcd)?

It must be something with your monitor or connection. Unless you're mixing up depth of field with "a blurry mess".

The PS3 version has a big advantage in Load screens and Drawdistances, mostly due to the HDD Install.

I wonder if installing GTA on 360 would at least help in some regard, I realize teh PS3 version was designed in such a way that the 360 install won't negate it, but it may help the TC.

I do know that if you are running on interlaced mode, TC, you need to switch to Progressive.

Your monitor is not broken, the game is just optimized to work on PS3 and 360. Graphical compromises are made so the game can work decently.

The GTA series has never been good looking.

But thats because of the large gameworld.

ofcourse its not the monitor but it could've been the vga connection messing up quality, but i really hate that the draw distance is so horrible, guess i just have to live with it.

Question, why do you own both for both consoles? just to make your point about the ps3 less biased? because i don't think you really own GTAIV for the 360, or possibly a 360 as well. I will wait till you post pics of your 360 with your copy of GTAIV and something showing your username before i change my mind.

It's not unheard of. I bought it on both consoles so that I could play multiplayer with any of my friends, regardless of platform. I then bought it again on PC, to play it again with the enhancements. (I then gave up on the PC version, as Nvidia still hasn't released a non-beta driver for SLI.) So yeah, Rockstar loves me. :D

Same. I sometimes play on my 1024x768 and can't stand the blurriness. Looks nice and clear in 480p though.

Yeah, it definitely looked better in SD to me. At first I thought it was because I had my PS3 set to 1080p, so I changed it to 720p but it looked the same. Then I thought it might be because of the resolution of my monitor, but other games run in 720p and look fine on it. I guess it's just there to keep the frame rate up.

I just started playing GTA4 a couple of days ago (on 360), can't say I've noticed it being blurry.

On the topic of GTA4, way over bashed.

^ Grand Theft Auto IV is native 1152x640, no AA,for the PS3 and native 1280x720 2xAA for the 360.

The more you push it beyond native the blury-ier it gets.

But it's still a crappy port. CPUs with less then 3 cores struggle, even if the GPU could do the physics.

yeah both versions arent exactly stunning to look at. The scale is great and all, and the graphics are good, but the game just feels like its chugging along. In online mode, expect fps issues, and the #1 thing that really annoys me about GTAIV is the fact that your guy moves like a tank. It takes him .5sec to react to your commands and .5secs to stop moving. WTF is this? Is this guy walking in molasses!?

No, if you play in hd, gta 4 is a mess on the 360. Not just a blurry mess either. If you move the camera around just a bit, it blurrs like no tomorrow. The blurs there to cover up the horrible framerate, since its not there on the pc version. Just like past gta games.

I can't see how people can say this is a technical marvel. Sure, its a huge scope but if the game moves slower than a turtle because of framerate? You can't enjoy that. People say it doesn't effect gameplay, but I died countless times from where the game is just so sluggish. Takes a few seconds for the game to actually register what buttons I press.

The game does look bad, really bad. I hadn't noticed at first, as I am used to GTA's having those issues. Its only when I came back to the gane after playing fallout that I realised how bad it looks.

Still a good game though, you get used to it.

Your 360 is broken, because it's not that bad. Also, 360 version is better graphically, loads things further away and is higher resolution.

I thought it was terrible. Then again i play most of my games on Pc so am used to 60fps n0t 20-30. Not tried GTA4 on my PC though, was terrible on my PS3 and refuse to splash more cash on this crap.

Strange. I didn't notice any significant drops really. Maybe the occasional stutter when a big explosion happens but nothing major. From what I've heard you're best off steering away from the PC version. Massive performance issues apparently.

Yeah, GTA framerate is pretty low, around the mid 20's. During the night I noticed it runs a LOT smoother though.

i think the roads are a very small tad blurrier in the 360 version and i think the cars in the 360 version are a small bit less jaggy. the animation in the two console versions looks kinda different, i have access to both but i've not played it on 360 a moment longer than 60 minutes so i'm not gonna call it =/. i own the ps3 version. i'd also like to add that they both seem to boot up to your recent save in the same ammount of time, despite the hdd install on ps3.

It's your monitor, not the system or the game. It sounds as if you monitor has a poor response time and/or is at a poor refresh rate. Most likely it's the response time.

Actually, if you think it is blurry on 360, you would be thrilled to see the PS3 version, PS3 has a special blur filter all over the screen, looing vastlly less detailed and more blurry

It uses that filter instead of the AA on 360, so 360 gets by miles the crisper version

Oh and the Xbox360 is the only console version in true HD. The PS3 version runs at 640p

That's because the code is deteriorating. Most developers use artificial code to extend the life of their product, but Rockstar uses all natural code with no preservatives. This way it tastes fresher when you first get the game, but after a while, the code starts getting moldy and the only thing you can do is throw away the old copy and get a new one hot off the press. :D

When it effects gameplay, on how fast you can respond, and how much you can see- it does still take its toll. Sure, you CAN get used to it. But you shouldn't have to.
