I feel almost ashamed to admit it but I had actually forgotten all about Grand Theft Auto IV until this week, when I noticed the press release informing the world that it finally has an official release date. A game many hoped to see the other side of Christmas 2007, we now know that it'll be released simultaneously worldwide on the 29th of April this year.

Downloadable content will also be made available for both consoles, although Rockstar did stress that owners of Xbox 360s without hard drives would not be forced into purchasing one to play the standard game.

In related news, the ban on selling Rockstar title Manhunt 2, originally imposed by the BBFC and then overturned by the Video Appeals Committee, has now been reinstated by the High Court. As it now stands, then, the game will not be making it to UK stores unless the High Court judgement is overturned or revoked - and personally I can't see the crown ruling in favour of Manhunt on this one.

Not that it matters though, Manhunt 2 is no competition to GTA so as of April we should all be far too entwined in the latest Rockstar development to care about anything prior. Fingers crossed there aren't any delays or bans on this one.

Just because the PS3 gets content too doesn't mean it's the same exclusive content that the 360 gets from the deal that MS made where they paid some million dollars on.

I dunno, all I know is that if MS paid rockstar millions for exclusive DLC, it'll never go to PS3. But that doesn't stop Rockstar from making other DLC for both.

There's a difference between EXCLUSIVE EPISODIC CONTENT and just DownLoadableContent. Lol. This DLC will most likely be just extra cars and weapons.

All I am seeing in that link is where it says content will be made available for both. It doesn't say anything about it being the SAME content. It's somewhat a no-brainer that both would get at least something to download.

I couldn't care less. As long as what is on the disk is a complete and fun game the DLC doesn't matter to me. I already paid for the game once. I have no interest in paying for it again.

What I read was MS paid for exclusive content, but in the contract it didn't limit Rockstar from making other exclusive content available on PS3. So yes X360 will get exclusive content and PS3 will get it's own exclusive content. Personally I don't pay for extras that should've been included with the game to start. Pre-planned nickel and diming of customers is not something I care for....

ps. Don't quote me on this, this is just what I saw on the internet. We really don't anything until Rockstar officially says, except that GTAIV is going to rock :)

i think your mis-interpeting here. All versions will have downloadable content. MS just paid for EXCLUSIVE DLC. So while the PS3 is going to get DLC, it won't have the same DLC as the 360, and the 360 will have the PS3's DLC.

So 360 gets more DLC loving.

Yep GTAIV is going to rock, but its going to rock harder on the 360 with those exclusive episodic content. And there were never news on Sony paying for any exclusive content. As I recall Sony said themselves "we don't buy exclusives".

I'm having a hard time understanding what your saying, but this 'rumor' has come from an unreliable source. The PS3 and 360 will both have DLC, but the episodic content will be 360 exclusive.

The delay is being attributed to "technical issues" with the PlayStation 3 game, but those problems have apparently been overcome and development of both versions is now at the same level. It is also being stressed that both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions should be indistinguishable from each other in terms of graphics and gameplay.

Downloadable content will also be made available for both consoles, although Rockstar did stress that owners of Xbox 360s without hard drives would not be forced into purchasing one to play the standard game.
