GTA IV : I think we can all say the PS3 version is pretty damn good. EMG says

When discussing worries some people had about the PS3 version, the editors stated this: "I think we can all say the PS3 version is pretty damn good."

"I was standing in the Times Square equivalent firing rockets everywhere and like pouring rain and things exploding and the [framerate] doesn't slow down."

They discussed how real the rain looks and how it doesn't look fake at all. "It's not just a bunch of drops falling in a pattern. It feels like weather."

They discussed how different each area looked in the game and how "each district of the city felt so different."

When asked if they felt like this new Liberty City feels like the old one from Grand Theft Auto III, the editor said that one part reminded him of the starting point from the old game known as the Red Light District. He called it Hepburn Heights, but he may have made a mistake. Overall though, he said it felt new and not like the old game.

"Every square inch [of Liberty City] feels different" than other parts of the city.

They explained that the framerate isn't "silky-smooth" but it's not noticably bad.

The editors talked about using molotov cocktails.

The editors believe that the controls will be the "biggest sticky point" in terms of what reviewers will complain about when the game is reviewed in April. "The shooting is good but it won't redefine it."

The editors talked about how they used a Hummer which is most likely a Patriot.

One of the EGM players crashed into an edge of a bridge and flew out of the windshield 30 feet down and died.

"I picked up a cellphone and I called 911 and a cop comes to answer the call. He gets out and talks to people." Then he stole the cop car and pulled up the police database where you can search by name or search by picture. They searched by name and cycled through hundreds of dossier pictures and profiles. They find two results and get the addresses and carry out the mission.

"I actually was really surprised how much I liked Niko right away."

"The writing in this game is so freakin' good, top notch and believable."

They discussed how much they know they will care about the stories and characters in the game and how important that is.

im not saying that the 360 version will be bad, im just pointing that statement mostly at those who think that hte ps3 version will be gimped and inferior because it doesnt have the exclusive content on it

Both versions of the game will be damn good. And outside of the Achievements, everything on the actual game disk will be pretty much just as good as the other version.

I can't wait to play this game. :x But I also can't wait to get the DLC. :P

What I'm happy about is that they're finally putting anti-aliasing to good use with this game.

The PS3 version apparently has less jaggies than the 360 version. That, quite frankly surprised me.

this is just sad. instead of talking about how great the game is going to be, there is nothing but arguing about how one version destroys the other. Grand Theft Auto used to be fun on both consoles.

They're just hurt and feel cheated, so they just say it doesn't matter and that the PS3 version is superior regardless. They hurt deep inside though.

Let's be realistic here...You cows can sit around all day and make threads about how much better DMC4 is on the PS3 ONLY because you can waste your time and disc space to install the game on your HDD and shave 2 - 3 seconds off the game's load times, yet lems cannot dare use the extra DLC on GTA4 as a reason that makes the 360 version better than the PS3?

Believe me, extra content that the PS3 will not have is far better decision maker than a meager 3 seconds...

wow anybody else notice that Pariah_001 made a completely baseless coment about jaggies (of all things) on the 360, and everybody just goes along with it.

So far there's zero evidence either version is gimped, or superior in anyway as far as graphics go. Now when it comes to DLC, and online 360 has a pretty nice advantage. There's also some talk of episodic content if 360 fans pony up the cash (and if history is any indicator they will).

I agree, it's absolutely ridiculous. Has there been a conversation about the actual game yet? Because all I see is:

Exclusive content makes teh CELL last GEN!!!!!, Anti aliasing is my god, custom soundtracks will kill PS3 once and for all, my frame rates better than your frame rate so u=pwned and blah blah blah. Talk about the greatness of the game, instead of always warring over miniscule and petty differences between two pretty much technically identical consoles. It's gets really repetitive and stupid after awhile, because it seems to be in every GTA thread and I think it takes a bit of the enjoyment out of waiting for the game.

Yeah I heard what the new game has much to offer, I'm definately getting it as soon as it comes out. I don't really get how one version is better than the other if they're just the same game only on different consoles, people who complain which version is better just proves how much of a fanboy they are and how ridiculous it can be. It's just a game.

it is gimped because it won't have the DLC, or rumble, or achievments. but the launch game will be equal between the two systems so...that was never in doubt though. ur initial post was meaningless.

No, it's just that the 360 version will quite obviously be the superior version since it'll have additional content. If you have two things that are basically the same, but one lets you get more out of it in the end, then that one is clearly better.

I'm afraid you answered your own question there! Anything that the 360 has over the PS3 is a superior version, simple as that, not much has been said by rockstar of the DLC, but its going to be nice to have that extra content!:)

How many more times do you have to say this. DLC = More GAMEPLAY = superior version. Most people are buying the game to PLAY, while cows are going to buy the game to look at it and then come in here and try to convince people that the PS3 version will somehow be better, Which is the better version of any movie, the uncut directors version with MORE movie or the the made for reguler TV version of the same movie. If Sony overhyped the made for TV version, all the cows would claim the made for TV version.

This thread ended on the 1st page, when cows lost the argument...
