GTA IV is overrated

I don't like it very much tbh. First I think the gameplay is really dull compared to previous GTA games. The camera is really weird and makes the game more challenging than it should be at times. I think the sound is messed up because sometimes I gotta turn it all the way up to make out what the characters are saying and there's a few characters that are so stereotypical that I don't understand them at all.

I don't see how this game got 10's everywhere.

I felt the same way about GTAIV when i got it day 1 last year, I only played a handful of missions and just put the game aside cuz it seemed dull and boring.... I recently put it back in the 360 and am really liking it for some reason. I just decided to ignore all those damned phone calls with NPC's asking me to take them bowling, or go for drinks or play darts, blah blah blah..... All that crap should have been just cut from the game imho, it is hella boring and if you are a completionist then you feel like you need to drop what you are doing in order to pursue this crap....

If you can manage to just ignore all that crap you may find you actually like the rest of the game. I also didn't like the controls.... but now i realize i just didnt give it enough time, the controls are great..... if you find them difficult then you either suck or just havent invested enough time..... heck even the driving controls are great, which is what most people complain about, not sure why... I have no problems whatsoever....... I can drive full speed down a street whip the car around 180 degrees and continue to drive in reverse in the same direction i was going and then whip it around again another 180 and keep on truckin'.... its not that hard.

People have different opinions. Some think the game is an excellent video game that is well deserving of all the praise it has received. Other see it as overrated and over hyped.
