GTA series or Yakuza series - which do you enjoy more?

Yakuza for me. I never liked the gameplay in GTA games. The aiming and close combat are always just bad. Yakuza combat is just fun and over the top.

Well I’ve only just recently got into the Yakuza series with Yakuza 0 on Xbox One so right now I’d have to go with the Grand Theft Auto franchise being my favourite. I have played some Yakuza 0 and so far am really enjoying it. My favourite GTA games are:

- GTAV

- GTAIV

- Vice City

I like Vice City a lot. Not gonna be a dumbass and claim the game is perfect or has some deep complex gameplay, it's simplistic as hell, but it wins you over with character taking you into some idealistic 80's world that no game has really done as well, at least from my experience.

GTA V

GTA and it's not even close for me.

GTA I don't like the look of yakuza

Yakuza 0 on its own is better than all GTA games in terms of story.

lol, you already know my answer, but I'll mention that Y4 and Y5 have 4 and 5 main playable characters, respectively, so they top GTA in multiple protagonists as well. That, and Ishin's gameplay is so far beyond what any rockstar game could ever have.

Can both series, which represent different genres, be compared? It is like comparing apples to oranges.

GTA, but I've never played a Yakuza game, so I can't really answer honestly.

Only played the first 10 hours of GTA4 and Yakuza 0 blows it out the water. But Yakuza 0 blows most games out the water. What a ride.

Better story, combat and side quests. The answer is clear:

Yakuza is superior to GTA in almost every way. Better combat, better story, better mini games, better side activities.

GTA has a larger world and more freedom, but otherwise it has poor gameplay mechanics and sub-par story. It can be fun exploring and going on a rampage, but it quickly gets boring after a while.

I haven't played Yakuza, but I have always found GTA games to be quite mediocre experiences

I never could get into Yakuza and gta is my favorite franchise.

GTA is one of the gaming worst franchise so i choose any other option than GTA.

You're playing Kiwami as your first game? Or did you already play 0? 0 is the beginning of the series. Fanatical has 0 for $5 right now :)

@SolidGame_basic: probably. I understand - I've read a ton of back and forth on "the right place to start" on the web and a friend gifted me Kiwami so...

GTA for story Yazuka for combat and mini games.

Oh ok. So you know that Yakuza 0 is considered one of the best, if not the best game in the series.

@SolidGame_basic: I do. What I read makes a lot of sense to me: the idea that caught my eye is as follows - Kiwami was written first, and so you meet the characters as originally intended, and with the original scope of mechanics; 0 then makes a fantastic prequel. In other words, if you play Kiwami first, you'll love it, but if you play 0 first you'll find Kiwami a bit of a letdown since 0 has the benefit of hindsight and new advances

Both are overrated, but of the two Grand Theft Auto. See, hell just froze over.. I prefer GTA over another franchise.. lol

I’ve tried the Yakuza games multiple times. I can’t get into them.

i like yakuza games but will not play the new one. they changed it into a final fantasy gameplay. select attach and watch the game do the animations.

Yakuza 0 is the better than the best GTA game, I think this Gen Yakuza > GTA

Back in previous gens, I think you could make the Argument GTA was better, not so much now

Definitely Yakuza for me.

GTA is a good game but the gameplay mechanics are terrible - especially the vehicle sections.
