So basically besides just the main mission which I say most are at best average being generous there not much interesting things to do besides doing some mini games like golf or lol swimming. The strangers mission are hardly interesting enough if only they developed them as some sort of subplot or better story behind them. Witcher 3 crafted their quest far better despite having way less budget. I blame Rockstar trying to push that MP way too much on players.

Atleast GTA V isn't a cutscene and tree simulator

While very different games, Witcher 3 beats GTA V's story telling any day.

Yes they are both open world but GTAV focus on the modern world/present day. Witcher 3 is a medieval game. Again apples/oranges.

Grand Theft Auto V's single player doesn't have to be compared to any game to realize it's a mediocre experience.

They're as similar as they are different. With that said, Witcher 3 was a more fulfilling open world experience than GTA5 could ever hope to be.

They all share the open world factor in common, looking past that, however, reveals that they branch out in different directions. A better comparison for The Witcher, would be Dragon Age. They are both open world in their own aspect, and share very similar gameplay models, albeit different executions.

Well Dragon Age is a party based more tactical game that plays very similar to a MMO as oppose to a hack n slash gameplay of the Witcher 3. Quest layout is quite similar but even GTA V shares some similarities. DA:I is far less open world than with Witcher 3 or GTA V you can't travel to any location via foot or mount with limited exploration even Bioware said it isn't a true open world game.

I played them back to back (GTA V PC was my first time playing it) and really enjoyed them both. Witcher 3 was probably overall better since it gives you way more to do in its world, but GTA V's map/setting is insanely well crafted and I enjoyed the characters/writing.

I do wish GTA V had more compelling side activities though.

There's not that much organized content in GTA perhaps (well relatively speaking) but it's fun to just travel around exploring the detailed world, or doing stuff like driving a dirtbike down Mt Chiliad.

Comparable or not, I was more engrossed in the Witcher 3 story and characters....over all the better experience.

Yeah definitely. I think that last 2 GTA games' campaigns have been quite mediocre in the story telling department to be honest (San Andreas had a great story I thought). Still enjoyable enough, but I definitely preferred W3.

They have completely different types of gameplay and story telling. What your saying is you can compare COD with FF13 because they are both linear.

Maybe? I don't know because I don't waste my time or mental energy comparing them. What positive purpose does it fulfill? I enjoy both games.

I loved TW3 but people give it waaay too much credit. GTA V missions at least were more or less varied. TW3 missions followed the same basic principle: Go there, talk to person, use witcher senses, kill baddie(s), return to person with some minor tweaks here and there... You could do a LOT more on GTA V other than talk and kill stuff.

Now that I think about it, its about time someone to make a narrative driven game ala Witcher/Mass Effect/Dragon Age with a modern setting. Alpha Protocol tried but was baddly executed

If you compare Witcher to the other New Zealand games , it's the blandest of them all.

Only the heist mission had any sort of variations other than driving from point a to b since they actually gave you different options and there was only a few in the single player.

The only thing worse than Witcher 3 in terms of story telling is GTAV story telling.
