GTAIV: Does it really deserve a 10?

Ok, I'm going to start out by saying that I don't play this game, so I am looking at it from a general gamers standpoint.  The fact is, a 10/10 means a game is PERFECT.  But seriousely, what game is perfect?  Why would we need to even create more videogames if we have a perfect game?  Doesn't this mean it has infinity hours of gameplay with the most realistic graphics possible for this gen?  

The fact is, there is no such thing as a perfect game, and there never will be.  There never will be a game that appeals to everybody.  There will always be haters, and people looking for criticisms.  We shouldn't even listen to these reviewers who dare to call a game perfect.  I've even seen in some reviews minor flaws being pointed out, but it still gets a 10?  This really doesn't make sense to me, as perfect means UNFLAWED.

Is it possible that the reason this game got a 10 is possibly because of the hyper for it?  Sure, other games have gotten hype, but for this, it was just annoying.  It was being praised as amazing from when it was announced, up to today. Now the same has happened for GeoW2, but it seems the reviewers have learned from their mistakes, and not associate hype with their reviews. 

In conclusion, I would like to know (IYO's) if GTAIV is a perfect game.  Don't go by personally your opinion either.  Look at aspects of the game that may not appeal to others.  If you can prove to me that this game is perfect, maybe I will change my mind.  Good luck finding aspects that appeal to everybody. =)

Yes, the game is a great example of what every free roam action adventure should try to be just like MGS4 is what any cinematic story should try to be Both games deserved their 10's, get over itToriko42

It will just be outdone within a year or 2.  Then will you call it a 10/10 perfect game?  Shouldn't a 10/10 mean it doesn't get forgotten?  I hear hardly anything about it anymore other than announcements of an update or something.

No.

The game will soon be replaced by a better example of a sandbox experience. There is little redeeming value in GTA4 and it deserves a 9.5 for going the next step.

Stop being digitally rigid. Prime is prime, and it probably wont get a 10 on PC; for consoles it doesn't get much better than GTAIV, but remember the standards.

Ever heard the phrase "nothings perfect"? I think GS needs to hear this and realise it canbe improved. They mustbe giving the pc version higher than a 10 according to their tandards since they are adding mods and the video editor. The fact is that every game can be improved. That's why patches and updates exist, even for the almight GTAIV.

People praise this game.  I never hear talk about NPC's or anything deep like that.  I just say "Why do you like it?"  They say "IDK I just like blowing stuff up and killing people and picking up chicks."  If this kind of gamecan be perfect in our society, that is just sad. 

It probably should've gotten a 9.5. But MGS4 doesn't get nearly as much hate as GTA IV for getting a 10. I mean have you ever played MGO it is horrible! Just the fact that half the game is just watching a movie should of detucted a point. I beat MGS 4 played the online for a hour and was done. You should have made a thread asking why MGS4 got a 10.torontomapleafs

This was meant to appeal to all games that recieve tens.  I shouldn't of made this the title i guess.   

TC, I recommend reading over Gamespot's definition of a "Prime" game once more. By your comments, no offense, but I don't think you're getting what Gamespot means when they call something a "prime" game.BioShockOwnz

I just reread it.  The technology of when it was released didn't make it impossible to add the recent patch did it?  It didn't make it impossible for mods?  It would of been hard, but not IMPOSSIBLE.  The fact that updates are still coming it's way shows that even the creators feel it could of been better at release, possibly wishing the new content was included with the original game.

No it does not deserve a ten. but that's just my opinion. There was :

• No haircutting
• No Jet packs
• No Blackjack
• No Video poker
• No roulette
• No Inside track horse racing. so the game pretty much throws you wads of cash with nothing to do with it.
• No driveable trains that can derail
• No Parachutes
• No car surfing, or any vehicle surfing for that matter. do YOU ever go COMPLETELY limp when a vehicle accelarates with you ontop of it?
• No Gym, but I guess it's nothing but button mashing, but my point is there's no way to change your body shape
• Remote control cars
• Monster trucks
• Hover crafts
• NO BF INJECTIONS! 
• No combine harvesters that can grind up people and spit out a bloody chunk of meat
• No bycicles!
• No fire propagation!
• No buyable Houses
• No chainsaws
• No Katanas
• No stealing missions where you can go into any house
• No super giant mountain to hike and jump off
• No super tall building to base jump off
• Oh yeah there's no base jumping

And on top of all that, THERE ARE NO AEROPLANES AT ALL!

Ok maybe the area was too small for aeroplanes, but NOTHING was forcing rockstar to make it that small. that's like choosing not to put sugar and a cherry on top of a sundae!

 And i also hate going with your friends to places. It gives a sense of responsability. Who likes responsablility in a freedom game?

It is all the small things like that that make GTA GTA! Sillines is what everyone thinks of when they hear GTA.

Although it wasn't all bad

• The world is extremely well detailed and feels VERY alive
• It has KICKASS endorphin physics
• The humor is vaguely intact
• There's TV and internet
• It has Ricky gervais and Katt williams
• It has a KICKASS online mode

In my opinion i'd say that GTA4 is an upgraded GTA3. about an 8.8 in my opinion

Got to play?  So this means you don't play it anymore?  Many of the people who say it deserves it don't play it anymore.  I know you said they both don't deserve it, i am just using you as an example.
