I think they will. I'm not going to, but I know there will be many people that will. It's not a bad idea.

Kinda of cool as it expands the live community; not sure if this is better than Home. Will computer users pay for live? Maybe. We need to see them both implemented to make a call.

It's free if you already have a Live account for your Xbox 360. Which I have but I unfortunately bought a Mac Book Pro a month ago so I don't think I'll be getting a Vista any soon.

That is the thing though... not every single 360 owner has a gaming PC and not every PC gamer has a 360. Paying to play games online is stupid, especially when you are paying 59.99 USD/69.99 CAD for a single game.

Supreme Commander is 29.99 USD/39.99 CAD and has free online.

Microsoft forcing PC owners to upgrade to Vista to play games is stupid as well. That is why I am buying a 360.

Well we will see how Home will do after it is released. Until then we can't really say. As for me, a PC gamer, PSH looks like a total gimick. Sims approach, which is useless in my eyes. I'd rather have 2D menues as an interactive 3D approach. Things in Home look fancy, and have some value I guess, but it simply doesn't phase me a single bit. But if it get's the job done, why not.

If they own just a PC they won't be paying to play console gamers. XBL has such a terrible community I doubt I'll even play console gamers even though I have a gold account for my 360.

EDIT: And God knows racism and insults will fly when PC gamers are massacring the console gamers in FPSs.

I disagree...many just dont care, many will also have Consoles. The average PC gamer, is much older then the average console gamer. and a very large amount are in Europe, where Consoles simply arent as popular as they are here. but regardless, no one will pay $50, for acievments and cross platform play. Its simply pointless, and doesnt allow for Mods.

Hardcore, not average PC gamers.  Average PC gamers will poop on Halo 2 xbox users with the precise controls it wouldn't even be fair anymore and plus if it costs then it wont happen for most PC gamers its that simple

I think you will find that Hardcore PC gamers, play a different variation of FPS games then what you see on Consoles. Especially in Europe. They play a lot of Tactical shooters and what not. and I dont mean like R6: vegas...which is absolutely nothing compared to PC tactical shooters. Also, the Average PC game, last much much much more then the Average console game.

many games dont require you to Host servers in the traditional sence. Many games, (in particular Halo 2 which uses MS live) run on P2P, and dont require you to "Host" servers. If you are using a dedicated server, then forcing you to pay for it is pointless, when many people Host Servers off second computers. and if MS monopolizes Server Hosting, then it will make prices much higher then what we normal spend on Server Hosting.

I highly doubt many PC gamers would do this. Why? Because online gaming has been free to them since the begining of time. Why pay now?

They will if they want to play online games with me. Many of my friends don't have 360s, but would enjoy playing Shadowrun with me, so I think some people will pay to make this happen.

That is the thing though... not every single 360 owner has a gaming PC and not every PC gamer has a 360. Paying to play games online is stupid, especially when you are paying 59.99 USD/69.99 CAD for a single game.

Microsoft forcing PC owners to upgrade to Vista to play games is stupid as well. That is why I am buying a 360.

Games that play on XP are being phased out? All games being released after, what, 6 months will only be installable on Vista?

No, of course not. especially if Vista continues to not sell. for the next few years, games will let you choose between playing DX10 on Vista, or with DX9 on XP. eventually XP will be phased out, but it will take a long time. games have only recently begone to not support Windows 98 (though most games can still be played on 98 even if they dont support it).

I didn't think older OSs got phased out THAT quickly. I wonder what Fox meant by MS "forcing" people to upgrade to be able to play games.

Why would a PC gamer like my self want to pay money to play a FPS game? When its been free every since quake 1 came out. so why would any pc game start now? and if you thnk shadowrun is sweet, im sorry that game looks like crap. they ruined the shadowrun lore also. but yah MS is really tring ot destory the pc community by charging for nothing.

Really? For what games?

Final Fantasy XI, Nabuaga's Ambitions Online and Uncharted Waters Online

MMO is different, it needs to be charged. you are using their servers to host 1k ppl on one server.

[QUOTE="cobrax25"][QUOTE="AdobeArtist"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="mr-sheep"]It's free if you already have a Live account for your Xbox 360. Which I have but I unfortunately bought a Mac Book Pro a month ago so I don't think I'll be getting a Vista any soon.AdobeArtist

Phased out means something different with OS's then Consoles. Despite that Windows 98, is no longer "officially" supported, almost all programs made for XP will still work with 98. part of the reason that 98 is now outdated, has to do with the fact that after Windows 98 came a huge upgrade for Windows, known as Windows NT, which used a new file system called NTFS. While Windows NT was almost never used on PCs, since NT was a server OS. It did provide the backbone of all future Window's OS's. Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista, all are essentially upgraded versions of Windows NT. in fact if you search around you Windows Files, you will find tons of Folders labled "Windows NT"

[QUOTE="mr-sheep"]It's a great concept :P Being able to play cross-platform with PC people with my Xbox 360 is GREAT!!! PS3's Home is nothing compared to this :Pdhjohns
Kinda of cool as it expands the live community; not sure if this is better than Home. Will computer users pay for live? Maybe. We need to see them both implemented to make a call.

It's nowhere near as good as HOME because almost no PC gamer will pay 50 bucks a year no matter what you might think. HOME is free and WILL be downloaded by almost every single PS3 user. Then add to the fact that Windows Vista sucks @ss right now for driver support. I own a 7900GTX and I can't even play games on VISTA!!! Whack!

of course, but so what? Dreamcast had Q3 crossplatform gaming. And "their servers"? THat's actualy the whole point, even in nonMMo Pc games you use decidated servers, which is why P2P that XBL uses is pathetic and completely unnaceptable for most pcgamers, it's would be like returning to 1993 all over again

Live Anywhere is M$ way milking everybodyTamarind_Face
or its their way of giving pc gamers a great product for FREE, please read about ti before you criticize it. You can play online for free, you just have to pay if you want to get online achievements, which is not a big deal to most people.
