Guerilla Games confirms Horizon online co-op game in development

I guess we can finally say Sony is back into multiplayer again 😎 hopefully it will have better co-op than games that rhyme with Malo and Beers.

Thoughts, SW? What do you hope to see from this game?

Horizon multiplayer spin off as well as Last of Us Factions multiplayer, hopefully both in 2023. Now just bring back Uncharted 2/3 multiplayer...

When was the last time sony made a good multiplayer?

Not really since PS3. They had more multiplayer than anyone else back then. Uncharted 2, Uncharted 2, Resistance trilogy, Killzone 2, Killzone 3, Motorstorm trilogy, Warhawk, Starhawk, LBP series (1, 2, Karting), Modnation Racers, White Knight Chronicles, GT 5 & 6, SOCOM Confrontation/4, even Ratchet and Clank got shitty multiplayer spinoffs with All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault.

@mysticaldonut: they also had MAG. That game was ahead of its time. Just had uninspired map designs.

Oh yeah. Can't forget about MAG.

Sony tried so hard with multiplayer in various genres for years but they could just never compete with the big games from Activision, EA and Ubisoft. They really switched up their strategy for PS4 and focused mostly on single player experiences. Seemed to be a smart business move as their PS4 and PS5 releases are some of the most popular, well received and commercially successful first party games in company history.

Yup. They found a piece of the market that the big publishers were ignoring and ran with it. I'm glad they're trying to branch out a bit before their formula gets stale, but I hope they learned from their previous attempts at multiplayer.

Could be fun. Not expecting too much out of it though.

Factions in TLOU was great fun. There still a sizable base playing it.

Ghost of Tsushima stand alone MP was great too.

nope. its just repeteteive. killing same people in same map over and over again.

waste of time. Prefer storytelling, different enviroment, completing objectives, exploring level design etc.

Gameplay could be fun... One player acts as a distraction while another exploits weaknesses, or sets a trap etc.... The franchise offers some good opportunities for something like that...

Overall though MP games aren't usually my thing. Even coop stuff is just occasional and nothing I set time aside on.

This is silly. Wasting a decade on this POS series is real something.

Sony is a mess

Just stop with Horizon. The first game should have dropped the cliffhanger and ended as a single game. It was epic. The sequel ruined it.

I bet you the next entry will come out the same day as GTA6🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Sony chooses to release these games very carefully btw.

I dont play games online almost at all. But I considered the 2 best horizon games the best sony games ever made so I am interested to see how this turns out maybe we get official trailer late 2023?

I hope it has lots of forced terrible stilted dialogue.

Killzone 3 multi-player was awesome. I sunk hours into that. Snapping another players neck when I snuck behind them was satisfying. Not sure how they'd handle Horizon online, but I'm interested in what they do with it. I can only imagine it being like TLOU online.

I have loved Sony first party but horizon is the one thing i cant seem to enjoy. I hope GG move on from this and do something else.

Be worth checking out. I much prefer co-op gaming to PvP multi player.

They did good with kz2 series and lbp. Mag was fun as well, it just didn't have the hardware to what zipper envisioned. They need to bring back some titles, a kz2 remake and a new MAG would be great.

@tjandmia: Agreed. I really like the first Horizon, but thought the second game was pretty bad. They butchered the story pretty hard.

Why even ask? He's probably the most casual gamer we have in the forums. He's got like 5 games and never touches MP.

Most of my games are hardcore immersive sims.
