Does it really make a difference or really matter in the end while you are playing is the question. Most if not all people during play wouldn't even notice or care I bet.
yes, mono means one. one sound channel. steoro is 2, and 5.1 is 6 channels, one which is bass, which is not a full channel. you can imagine how this would make the game sound bland, i hope
From talking to people I know who own the Wii version they've universally said they don't even notice. One channel or six, rock is rock. Besides, it's a glitch and Activision is looking into how to fix it, so it's not like it's something permanent.
