I know it a way to early to tell but number 9 on amazon top selling video games is Guitar Hero for the Wii.

Link

This may just be happening because of IGN comments on how great the guitar will be for the Wii. Or maybe it because has some people have said that most of the PS2 owners are going Wii for next gen and they rather have GH3 on the Wii then the PS2.

First: rumble. The Wii version will be the only Guitar Hero game that will feature force-feedback thanks to the rumble in the controller, and believe it or not, in our hands-on, you really could feel the guitar shake to the beat when you rocked out with Star Power, as well as "buzz" when crazy effects are going on in the game.

The second feature? The Wii Remote speaker is used for the game's "squelch" when you miss a note. Hearing it come from your guitar makes two player co-op and two player competition a bit more fun since you can easily tell which player's the one that's screwing up the notes - if player one misses a few notes, the "squelch" will come from his guitar and not player two's. Players can bring the squelching back to the television speaker by turning off the remote's speakers - since the mis-note sound effect is integral to the game, it will recognize if you've kicked off your Wiimote speakers and send the sound back to the main audio output.

From IGN:

The Nintendo Wii version of the game will support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and though both Vicarious Visions and Red Octane are remaining tightlipped about the features within, every indication led us to believe that it's safe to assume that at least a few of the modes, both co-op and competitive, will be playable over the Internet. Which features, and whether or not the Wii version will have downloadable content, remains up in the air. Unfortunately, during our playtime with the Wii game, we had to skip over the "Nintendo WFC" option in the menu. Curses.

Oh that's cool last I knew it was up in the air. I am still going to buy it for my XBOX 360 but for those with Wii only that is killer news.

Rockband however is going to be better than GHIII anyways and at least with the XBOX 360 I can get both games.

Funny thing is I would buy that.

From IGN:

Nintendo's pushing a lot of attention to the casual gamer with its Wii system, and the Guitar Hero design fits that market like a glove. We wouldn't be surprised to see the Wii version top the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions in sales when they all ship this fall.

What funny is the comment that I added about "Or maybe it is because has some people have said that most of the PS2 owners are going Wii for next gen and they rather have GH3 on the Wii then the PS2." I made based on a thread you wrote a while back.

But yeah your right PS2 will get the most sales. I just found it funny that the only GH3 on the top 25 was for the Wii.

No, it's wireless this year. In fact, it's the first accessory to be able to use Microsoft's propriety wireless technology in the 360.

Because it not a half bad idea and it something that only can be found on the Wii. And all because of Wiimote.

1) PS2

2) Wii

3) 360

4) PS3

Wii and 360 will be really close but I think Wii will sell slightly more. PS2 is the clear winner though because of its user base and the fact that its the cheapest console out of all 4.

Every time there is a game on all three platforms, the Xbox 360 and PS3 outsell the Wii version. Despite the hardware sales of the Wii, they aren't buying the games as loyally as Xbox 360 and PS3 owners. Madden, Call of Duty, Splinter Cell -- all sold better on Xbox 360 and PS3.

First week of Madden 08 Xbox 360 was 900,000 copies.

First week of Madden 08 Wii was 60,000 copies.

Burn this figure into your brain and remember it so I don't have to type it out all the time.

I think this may very well outsell the 360 and PS3 versions. The Wii is the casual machine, and Guitar Hero is definitely a casual game. I'll only laugh at you if you try to tell me it's a hardcore game. Another thing to consider when compared to the 360 version is that the online is free on Wii. Compared to the PS3, there are simply more Wii owners right now than PS3 owners, and Guitar Hero has NEVER been a game about visuals. The Wii is more than capable of displaying the usual GH visuals.

I never considered it, but yeah, I think GH will actually sell best on the Wii, other than the PS2 of course. There are just way to many owners there to compete with.

Personally though, I think Rock Band is the way to go this Fall.

And I believe PS3 outsold some Wii games despite having LESS systems. People just aren't buying as many Wii games as people think.

System sales for Wii, yeah they are high. But games are not.

Madden is a poor example. We all know Madden on the Wii is not the premium version of Madden with next gen visuals. SO don't act like the games are remotely the same. Guitar Hero is a very casul game so I'm not sure if there is a good example out there right now. One thing to consider is that many people expect Guitar Hero to be on the 360 and Playstation console, so the advertising is going to have to kick in high gear to get awareness out there that it's now on a Nintendo console.

Next-gen visuals isn't the only think that set the 360/PS3 version apart from the Wii version. Read the reviews and you'll see that the physics and overal gameplay is also better. In fact, the latter features are the main reasons why the 360/PS3 versions are better.

System sales for Wii, yeah they are high. But games are not.

There are 8 games on the Wii that have sold over a million three of them have sold over 3 million. Muliplatform games have never done well for Nintendo. Find the last Multiplatform game that sold best on Nintendo. The last one was on the Super Nintendo. Something that a lot of 3rd Party companies are starting to understand this gen is that people who buy Nintendo games want Nintendo sty*le games. Look at Madden because you used it and have made a big deal out of its sales. Madden will never sell great on a Nintendo system more because no sports game ever sells well on a Nintendo system, most strong Nintendo fans just don't play sports games. Unless it a Mario Sports game.

Madden 08 Wii had every reason to sell well. I've been told constantly how the Wii-mote makes analog sticks worthless and dated. So why doesn't this revolutionary form of control help bolster sales? You are now immersed in football, and the game is $10 cheaper, why doesn't it sell better? The Wii has pretty much equaled the Xbox 360 in hardware sales, and yet the Wii version of Madden 08 is struggling to break 100k, meanwhile the PS3 and Xbox 360 are already over 1 million pretty much. (not sure about PS3 but it's gaining)

If Madden on Nintendo systems always sells lower than the others, then what does Nintendo have to do to change that? Because EA is probably thinking about pulling the plug on this one, just like they did on Gamecube. Every time I see Wii supporters show off Wii hardware sales, I laugh and think about the software and how Nintendo did not change their weaknesses from the Gamecube era. Weak third party support and no effort to change it or help out the 3rd parties. I remember a quote from Lucasarts saying Nintendo is a bit cold towards third-parties for some reason, not much support.

It's actually a poor signal when you just resign yourself and say certain Wii games will always be doomed to lower class sales forever. The point of this Nintendo Wii was to revolutionize all gaming genres so that one simply would not even want to look or touch the previous generation controls. Madden Wii should not be struggling to make it past 100,000 copies when there are so many Wii consoles out there.Perhaps all these people laughing at Sony and MS for losing to Nintendo hardware sales forgot that you took a major sacrifice. One in visuals, another in features. And perhaps it's Sony and MS laughing last when 3rd parties begin to pull Nintendo support after professing it earlier on. Something tells me Tony Hawk Proving Ground on Wii will not do so hot as the others.

all of the versions are to expensive, but the most rediculus thing is that the wii version is listed at $90 so minus the $50 for the game thats $40 for the ****ing shell of a guitar when you get a full blow wireless guitar for the same price on the PS3 and 360 ($40 after the $60 for the game)

Something tells me Tony Hawk Proving Ground on Wii will not do so hot as the others.

some things to consider is the quality of third parties on wii. madden 07 did really well for madden on a nintendo console... should be around 300 to 500k. Why? it was a good version scoring higher than the 360 and ps3 versions. madden 08 on the other hand scored lower on the wii so it makes sense ppl wouldnt be as interested.

take rayman RR for example. it sold over a million copies on the wii even though it is also on the 360 and ps2 i believe... why? the wii version is far superior to those versions.

Quality third party games usuallly do welll on nintendo systems. the catch is... they have to be good games. Resident evil franchise has done remarkably well on the cube and the wii, soul calibur did really well on the cube, etc. again, the thing is, they have to be good games. you use the splinter cell wii game as an example? look at the freaking reviews for the wii version and compare them to the rest of the versions... the wii version was a quick lousy port... thank god it sold poorly.

For those complaining about the wii remote speaker being terrible, it's going to be used for when you mess it up and you press the wrong keys, so it's ment to sound bad ..

you are correct. when the wiimote speaker is used for simple sounds like in wii sports, strikers, etc it is perfectly fine. you are not listening to music through it. if for some unknown reason this makes the game unplayable... it can be turned off.

It won't be the Wii, since most bought it because of it's low price. Guitar hero is one of the most expansive games on the market and I wouldn't be surprised if it was ps2 or 360 that would come out first. (I would have said PS3 but.... low userbase...)
