It has the left analog stick for move/strafe, the right analog stick for look/turning, and the gun pointer for free aiming.
This means you can turn and look around independently of where you actually shoot, so it will be just as smooth as a traditional control pad for turning (without the delay you get with the Wiimote when you combine aiming and turning), then you also have the absolute speed and accuracy of an arcade gun for the actual shooting. It probably even has a decent rumble feature built in, I would expect. It also obviously works perfectly as a standard light-gun (if it's light based or whatever).
This is better than the Wii setup clearly (it offers EVERYTHING the Wii does, plus and extra analog stick and more buttons too),and even a mouse and keyboard in my opinion.
I have often wished the Wiimote/Nunchuck had an extra analog stick, because then it would be perfect for FPS games (you wouldn't have to combine aiming and turning into one less than perfect setup), but as it happens someone else gets there first.
As long as the peripheral is up to scratch, and there is no reason to think it isn't, then I think the Wii has been one-upped for FPS controls. The only real negative is that it doesn't come with a machine so it's gonna cost a bit and it won't be as widely supported as the Wiimote is obviously going to be...
