The mods is over 10gb.
Well I have crazy download speeds and a 1TB hd. I can leave it on over night and I want to start HL all over, but have no reason to. This graphical update may be what I need.
That mod is cheating. They use real-life textures which means it only looks realistic if you look at it head on. Once you look at it from an angle you realize everything is flat and there are no details whatsoever. This excludes characters, but most walls and objects are just textured with detail.
Half-Life 2 looks a lot better than Doom 3, especially in the animations. God, that game was so cinematic. The detail put into Alyx and her expressions. Wow!
Having played both... No. Like, clearly and distinctly, no. Some details, maybe, but the game as a whole? HL's settings were flat and antiseptic in comparison - Doom 3 was alive with shadows and atmosphere. HL2 looked good, but Doom 3 looked better - notably better. I get the feeling that Half-Life fanboyism has become so strong now that people won't even admit what was the commonly admitted graphics king at the time of its release... Oh well. Not much different than people that claimed Halo 2 was the best looking console game.Half-Life 2 looks a lot better than Doom 3, especially in the animations. God, that game was so cinematic. Having played both... yes. As a whole, Doom 3 is just freaking ugly. Everything about it.

not only is that not true and completly illogical....but the vast majority of realistic looking games out there use real-life textures. Nothing is changed by looking at it head on or not. Its still a flat 2d texture anyway.

And considering it's a corridor crawler compared to HL2's wide open expanses and epic battles, I'd hardly say it's better looking, even if it's lighting was somewhat better. Not to mention half-life 2 was pushing a fully realized havok physics engine.Half-Life 2 looks a lot better than Doom 3, especially in the animations. God, that game was so cinematic. IpreferredHL2 to Doom 3, not by miles, but still. Yes, some of Half-Life 2 looked anti-septic, but it visualized certain landscapes and characters wonderfully. A game that had a believable dystopian urbanenvironment, a rare dystopian ruralenvironmentwith a distinctly Pacific Northwest kind of feel, futuristic (but actually believable) mesh of alien and dystopian human military installation/processing center. Not just industrial wasteland, warehouse, factory, or dare I say space colony/station. Rust and Ooze were not the only focus of HL2, thank god. Walking outside onto Mars for the first time in Doom 3 was a trip though, have to admit that.

I am creeped out by how attatche people are to Alyx. The model shown in the picture is Adrianna Lima a model. The maker of the mod has also made an original Alyx model (big breasts and all) as well as in CM 10 he created an HD version of the Alyx seen in HL2. I just wish I had enough ram to play this...4gb...that Ill have when Windows 7 is released=(

They ruined Alyx. I liked the original one because her charm didn't come from her physical appearance, but from her character. She was a believable character (I mean how many geniuses do you know of that look like super models?) Now Alyx looks like some stripper at the local club. When companies get concept artists to design characters and environments, its a well thought out process, requiring many hours of thought and input. Characters in games look the way they do for a reason so people shouldnt just jump in and make amendments at will, because it can destroy the whole feel. I cant imagine the above Alyx speaking her dialog :?II_Seraphim_IIYou sound as if this is Valve making Ep. 3. Like somebody said they have normal Alyx model and you can always play the rgeular game if you want to see her. And I'm ot sure what's so bad about some eye candy in it.
I got mine from The Pirate Bay. Oh, I used this piracy site for something legal! Anyways, if anybody want to try the new characters models, you really NEED 4GB+ of RAM + Windows x64 (XP, Vista or 7). Even without the new models, sometimes the game will crash and lag on x86What's the best place to get the mod from?

*sigh* this increases view distance by 3 times, makes all textures better, removes blurring, etc..That mod is cheating. .. How in the hell does Alyx look like a hooker?Crysis still looks better plus they made Alyx look like a hooker which ruins it a bit.
