This would be one of my most anticipated announcements ever, so I'm not getting my hopes up at all

Sorry, but I really don't care for HL3 at all. To be honest, I don't have any love for the HL universe myself. If HL3 becomes a reality, I'll buy it at some point.

Becuase you obviously weren't part of the glory years of PC gaming from 1997-2005 becuase if you were you'd be all over begging for a good Half Life 3.

You see you need to understand something here. the years of 1997-2005 paved the way for what we see today in games and the trends that we see were started back then and you could only platy these types of games on PC then. It wasn't until MSD launched the Xbox in 2001 is we started to see some of the all-time great PC games and franchises come over to console.

Games like Half Life Dues Ex Call of Duty Far Cry and many others set the standard and trends for games we see today with games having dialog and rpg elements and stuff like that,. The glory years of PC was 1997-2005 and you could mostly only play these types of games on a PC back then.

We also had the revolution of the 3D card accelerators back in that time. Having a new Voodoo graphics card back then was actually awesome and felt like something revolutionary at that time.

At the time back in the glory years Half Life set a standard in not only single player gaming but spawned also incredible multiplayer games like Team Fortress and Counter Strike Call of Duty Battlefield Unreal Tournament, Quake.

You'd probably understand this more if you were a part of this.

@xbox7204life: Just to clarify, I did played HL game in the early 2000 but never did care for it despite it change the way we play FPS and such. I just don't hold it as high as other PC gamers here do. Crysis was my grand entry to the world of PC.

If it won't have a VR version, it's hard for me to get excited. HL: Alyx was a glimpse into the future and going back to pancake is just backtracking.

Theoretically even if it didn't have a VR version, modders would make it VR.

Well HL 1 came out in 1998 and that was really in the pioneering era on 3D cards so HL looked good at the time but was still a work in progress kinda as far as new tech and 3d cards were evolving.

I'm assuming you have not even played Half Life 2? If not then it's obvious why your not hyped becuase HL 2 was revolutionary when it came out in 2004 and still holds up well today but it will still be a bit hard going back to it compared to todays standards.

I used to be a bigtime PC gamer but got away from it in the 360 era becuase I preferred to just relax on a nice big TV and play most of the great games on my sofa with far less upgrading and bugs and patch this that and you know all the kinks that also come with PC gaming. But in the glory years I was a huge PC gamer. I still have a closet full on some of the best PC game classics, boxes and disk in mint condition. Call of Duty, Half Life 1-2, Dues Ex, Splinter Cell 1-3 Unreal Tournament and many others.

I just like to play on a nice big TV with surround sound on a High-end Xbox now and this is why I am super hyped for a potential high-end Xboxes coming out soon as a PC hybrid.

Many years ago, Gabe stated on why HL3 wasn't a thing is due to the technology wasn't on par what Valve wanted to do for HL3. HL Alyx was the exception to that rule is due to the VR tech was more advance enough to get something out of HL itself.

If HL3 is really happening, I assume Valve must've been impressed whatever gaming tech they're eying on.

But in an epic plot twist it will somehow be exclusive to the epic games store.
