Ah yes, the quarterly "HL3 is happening" thread.
Please note the following:
Half-Life 3 could be in the late stage of development, based on new Valve update
Could.
COULD
CCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOULD!
So it's a rumor.
@Pedro: I hope Alyx has her boobs augmented to a DDD and dresses with the tiniest of bikinis otherwise it's trash woke game.
Until Valve themselves say that they are releasing Half-Life 3. I'm not going to get excited over rumors.
This... no way I'm getting my hopes up. HL3 is probably my most dreamed about sequel in gaming.
I'd just assume it's bullshit. And even if it were true, it'd probably be a VR game, which is also bullshit.
TL;DR BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT
Half-Life has always been overrated for its own good, and seeing these PCs old folks still living in the 90s is just too funnyðŸ¤
I really don't understand you old PC gamers here. Why do you all keep begging Valve for HL3? Valve gave you all what you ask and that's Half-Life: Alyx. Look, I don't hold to a high standard when it comes to Half-Life universe, but you all gotta let go of HL3 itself.

The thing is, though, that the Half-Life series managed to do something unique and the rest of game development really has not caught on to it. Immersion.
We continue to play games that have cinematic, de-immersive cutscenes and yank control and agency from the player, and it absolutely destroys the experience.
Modern games tell you a story; Half-Life shows you a story.
I won't sit here and say the Half-Life series is the best FPS for every reason you can think of, but it's still a groundbreaking game for exactly that one reason, and why it is still one of the best game series period.
It is definitely not overrated. It is still an incredibly fun game to play, and I tend to be pretty hostile towards nostalgia.

Dav there's nothing wrong living in the 90's as it was the best decade of gaming EVER.
And jangles, c'mon man, you think Half Life was the only game with immersion back then. Here's the thing, you can't create immersion, either someone will like the game and get immersed in it or they don't, they were 1,000's of games before Half Life that people got immersed in and 10's of thousands since.
Please don't tell me you believe in this "immersive sim" genre nonsense do you jangles?

Was it the only game that had immersion back then? no it was not. But the 1st HL significantly changed FPS gaming by changing how they told the story and gave environment queues and gave the "world" depth by showing people"NPC's" in game "story" going about their day etc. Giving a lived in and dynamic feel.
HL might be overrated in some people's eyes and that's fine. Everyone has their opinions and preferences. But if you were not old enough in the late 90's in see what HL did back then. You're not going to see the game how it was but after that standard was set afterwards.
HL 2 in 2004 pushed level design by making environments more dynamic, added more realistic physics in a FPS, and woven it into the fabric of the gameplay. Characters and NPC's seemed believable. Story was great, continue to evolve how they told the story. And in 2004 introduced a great looking and running graphics engine too.
If you never finished HL2 or Alyx (which only added some depth the back story). They left HL 2's story hanging on a cliffhanger and an amazing climax battle. Ive been wanting them to finish the story of Gordon/game since it ended in late 2007. That's my main reason why I want HL3, closure... Everything else people love or hype gameplay and graphics is not a priority for me
Anyone who think Halflife was overrated doesn't actually know what that word means.
Liking and not liking something, isn't the same as something being objectively a game-changer.

Bingo.
Tried HL on the PC years back and wasn’t much of a fan, so I’m not really waiting for a sequel. I think I may have also tried it on the original Xbox? Not sure but no lasting impact on me.

there's people in my region are massive Counter strike fan. they are also expert CS player but they only know Half life as a part of CS. and not know that CS was born from HL. further more they stopped playing it after train sequence because its too long. and back to counter strike.
I for one don't care much for counter strikes.
Half life and Half life 2 are true game changer. if Half life 3 (most likely coming) it will save gaming.
