Is this a..Oh wait System Wars. :(
Eh, I know HL is the better game but personally I'm a huge fan of the Killzone series and yes, I know it has massive flaws but I really don't give a damn about the technical problems at all.
*gets flameshield*
This has got to be a joke thread.
Basically, you're comparing lemonade to urine. What's next, Metal Gear Solid to Splinter Cell?

Now are you calling MGS the urine?
Sorry, typo.
I was referring to Splinter Cell.
I know "technically" the Half-life series is better, but do to my utter hate for Half-life 2, I have to say Killzone. At least Killzone has pissed me off yet.The_Fat_Gamer
i'm just curious as to why you hate it

Actually MGS VS Splinter cell would be alot better, they are completely different i know but at least there would be some competition, unlike the thread...

It pissed me off because it could have been a great game. Everyone raves about how it is the best FPS ever to land on the shelves, so I had high expectations when I went to go play the game. The story (IMO) was quite boring. The game just felt depressing. I have never felt so depressed playing a game. The levels were bland and it tried too hard to be scary, but failed. The final straw was the ravenholm level. I have never seen such a bad attempt at just trying to add gore than that level. It was actually quite disgusting, which is great if done right (ex. Bioshock), but they just added zombies for no reason, and had to have people cut in half just to make it as gorey as possible. Was that guy hanging from that post really neede? How about the guy cut in half with a huge blade saw? It was unnecessary, and just completely destroyed the story for me. I just decided to quit and uninstall it after I saw that level. Who knows, maybe I would have loved it if it wasn't for that level, but who knows.

So you're hating a game for the mood it's trying to set? :|And they added Zombies for no reason? Sorry if that ruined the story for you, but it seems you didn't know jack about the story in the first place. Nor care to try and understand it.

Sounds like you just couldnt handle the game. Seriously, when a game can change your mood, it immerses you in the story. Most games strive to do this, very very few can actually pull it off. When a game immerses you emotionally, that is the mark of a great game.
Half Life easily. Even the original Half Life by itself would dominate. Seriously, this is like putting Tito Ortiz against a newborn baby in a street fight.RossRichard
no it's like putting Kimbo Slice against an unborn fetus, haha. ok maybe that's too far.

Thats a pretty bad excuse to hate HL2. Very bad actually.

Aww, this is were you are wrong though. When you get immersed into a story, you actually feel for the character. When something bad happens, you feel it. I have recently beaten CoD4 and I have got to say that that game got my eyes watering because it was soo immersive. I am also currently playing Bioshock which I can't play at night because I get THAT immersed in the atmosphere that I would practically give myself a heart attack if I ever get tooken off gaurd. I can handle ANY game. RE, Condemned, you name it. A game is supposed to immerse you, NOT make you feel like you just do not care about anything. Bioshock is 10x more gorier and scarier than HL2, but the game has one of the best and most terrifying stories I have ever heard. I literally can not wait to play the next level to figure out what happens next. Maybe if I played longer, I would have gotten immersed into the HL story, but a good game will grab you at the word go and not let you go until the end credits.

Dude, youre not getting it. Killzone was just a PS2 shooter, hyped to be a 'Halo killer' and flopped horribly. Half Life was groundbreaking when it was released on the PC. The Half Life series has won numerous game of the year awards, has sold millions of copies worldwide, and is widely considered by fans and gaming publications to be the some of the best shooters ever made. Its no competition. There is no way Killzone could ever hold a candle to the Half Life franchise. Think of Tito Ortiz fighting a newborn in a streetfight, that is what the comparison is like.

I'm in disbelief that even a single person would vote for killzone, let alone 14. There is no God.piano_pimp
No, thats not the case at all. There were 14 cows that voted, thats all.

The most intelligent post I've seen in SW so far. No sarcsm, I'm honest.Lol... I know why the TC made this thread... revenge for all the cows voting HL in the HL vs Halo thread.....
But anyways, my vote goes to HL. Seriously.

Are you implying that HL2 isn't a good game? I can gurantee you that HL2 immersed me the first time I played it in 2004, I didn't want to stop playing it until I finished it. It seems like you didn't want to get into it at all.
nothing in bioshock was done right.... and the zombies have been in the half life series from the start...killtactics
The ONLY thing done wrong in Bioshock was the plan of making it for the xbox 360. The RPG elements were dumbed down due to the console-tards,and they could of made the PC version even better if it wasn't for the consolers who start having a panic attack if they do not get to kill every 5 seconds. The story unfolds perfectly (although I have not yet finished it, so I can not comment on the whole story), and the atmosphere is creepy and immersive. If you are looking for a run and gun game, then Bioshock is not for you. If you are looking for a game that incorporates RPG elements into an already fantastic FPS and has a story that few games can rival, then Bioshock is the game for you.

Do yourself a favor, an play the game, you're missing out on a great FPS. You seem to like Bioshock, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you have good taste. Really, it's your loss that little nitpicky details are so annoying to you. Please Log In to post.
