Half-Life 3 [2 Ep. 3?] at E3 2012?

Once upon a time on **** a lengthy thread was started in which posters would construct an email to Gabe Newell, one word at a time. The result was complete gibberish. You can read ithere. Suriprisingly, Newell apparently replied to the email with this message.

"I don't suppose it would ease your wrath if I told you we're announcing all of your favourite things at E3 2012?"

Then,a follow up message, posted onReddit. "I can see how the wording caused some confusion there. Yes, we are announcing something with a three in it."

So it is something three. Portal 3? Left 4 Dead 3?Team Fortress 3? Dota 3 lol?

It has to be Half-Life 3. It is their baby, has to be. Hopefully.

ill say that they troll the world and announce left 4 dead 3, and ive come to realize that people are way too impatient with half life 3, valve will release it when they are good and ready to

if true, i'll take any one of those 3s, though DOTA and portal are most definitely out of the question. i would be ecstatic over a half life or left 4 dead announcement. hell, even a team fortress announcement, if they could give us console gamers a proper version...

Buuut, enough fat jokes. I hope it's the next Half-Life game. Don't care if it's an episode or a full game I just want a new HL game.. badly.

It won't be HL3. Why would it be? They have plenty of other IP's worth exploiting in short periods of time that don't take nearly as much effort as a finely-crafted, methodically paced, narrative-driven first person shooter. I want HL3 in a new engine. No more Source, no more sh!tty gunplay. Take what id did with Rage, and copy it exactly. Then do everything else you want VALVe.foxhound_fox

I agree, Source is terrible IMO. It's ugly, it's clunky, it feels awful for shooters. But they won't replace it any time soon, sadly. Valve loves their Source engine. They love "keeping it updated" (more like keeping it looking half as good as the UE3).

i wouldnt go as far as saying that the source engine is terrible, its just became very outdated over the years, and i do fully believe that valve is most likely building an entirely new engine, and will showcase that engine with a game about a guy and his crowbarlinkin_guy109

Meanwhile they also have DOTA 2 and CS:GO releasing on the 'old' engine. So if we see anything of Hl3 I think it'll be after those games have released.

As much as I REALLY want Valve to announce HL3; I think there is a slight possibility Episode 3 might be reveal unless they announce a new engine.

1pm: Gabe stands on the stage with a giant H behind him, and talks about how he whas been wanted to make this game for ages

1:30pm: Gabe takes a step back and the full display screen shows up, its reads a single word and a number... "Halo 5"

2pm: Gabe is attacked when leaving on his private jet, but then eats the attackers.

Gabe will rename his studio to Valv3 to be hip with the youngins. And Piss off HL Fans (Like me :evil: )

Announcing something with a 3 in it? Probably:

"We are releasing the next Half-Life... in 2023." :P

I think you got the last 2 digits mixed up.

Valve are willing to do whatever it takes to delay the next Half-Life. I can only wish they would pick the right reasons.
