In these times, shooter games are thoroughly popular and they're obtaining more attention than nearly all of the other genres. Within the shooter games, there is a particular genre that is prosperous - the first-person shooter genre. There are a lot of these games, but during the time when this genre is mentioned, there are two specific game series that the majority of us think of - Halo and Half-Life. Halo and Half-Life are two remarkable, gigantic symbols within this genre and masterly among gamers. But what game is the superior one? Which of these two towering game series is the one of higher quality?
Two legends...
Rise and shine, Mr. Gamer, rise and shine! You are obliged to truthfully tell us which game of these two first-person shooter giants is the most excellent one. And don't make an untruthful statement just because you have never played Halo. I have a desire to go into your brain and read your sincere rejoinders, but I'm unable to do that, so I'm going to rely on you, despite the fact that you may answer Half-Life.
Why Half-Life? Why is Half-Life one of these two?
HALF-LIFE
During the time that Half-Life was released on PC in the distant past, this timeless game thoroughly shook the gaming world, especially the first-person shooter genre. The Supreme Being of the first-person shooter peasants had finally arrived. It whipped all other first-person shooters' asses for not doing the right thing for the genre and told them, "This is the way you shall do in the future".
Accompanied by its more than 50 Game of the Year awards, Half-Life laughed its head off, abandoning all other shooters in the dust. It unquestionably is one of the most powerful and influential games this genre has ever witnessed - its experience was just plain unique!
Half-Life was tremendously prosperous, and we were all aware that the second one was soon to arrive. We were wrong, but it still came. And it rocked our world! Its complicated physics and graphics were amazing. Half-Life 2 laughed, as well, but on this occasion with more than 35 Game of the Year awards.
Half-Life had much within itself - captivating and interesting characters, an immersive plot (which it told well), a great main character (he's not vigorous, he's not a superhero), a kick-ass experience and a lot more.
Why Halo? Why is Halo one of these two?
HALO
The first-person shooters on consoles shed tears of sorrow - it was merely Half-Life. On PC. And first-person shooters weren't intended to be played on consoles. Until 2001, after the attacks on America. At that time, a small game called Halo: Combat Evolved arrived. Imagine the two towers being the defence of first-person shooters on PCs - Halo was the hijacked planes! It just pulled it to pieces! Halo was the Supreme Being of the first-person shooters on consoles.
During the time that Halo: Combat Evolved was made available to the general public, it was extolled as one of the greatest and most significant games of all time. It was a triumph, and its popularity takes one to names like Halo killer. In addition, it was used in the Red vs. Blue series.
Halo: Combat Evolved is possibly the most consequential launch game for any console. Without question, Game of the Year 2001. For console first-person shooters, GoldenEye 007 was the multiplayer standard. In 2001, a game transcended it. A game that possessed tremendous music and gameplay.
For example, Halo: Combat Evolved was glorified for the balance of weapons, the drivable vehicles and the artificial intelligence of the foes. It was stuffed with splendid details. Its visuals were dazzling. Halo 2's and Halo 3's multiplayer was kick-ass and habit-forming, the audio dazzling and splendid map design . Hail to the tyrant of first-person shooters on consoles, baby!
Halo!
MONSTER SALES
Both these timeless first-person shooters are popular and flourishing. The original Half-Life sold more than eight million copies in seven years! Thus far, this giant has almost sold ten million copies! The sequel, Half-Life 2, sold 1.7 million copies in approximately two months. Up until now, Half-Life 2 has succeeded in selling more than 6.5 million copies.
During the time that Halo 2 launched, records were expected to be broken. And Halo 2 didn't fail to meet expectations - by selling 2.4 million copies in its first day in North America, this blockbuster cleared $125 million, outpacing all games and movies. No movie hammered Halo 2's 24-hour sales record, and the gaming industry had to wait three years before that record was smashed.
Attached by its 1.7 million preorders in the U.S., Master Chief was aware that he would smash records. This can be compared to Freeman's 1.7 million units sold in two months! By selling approximately 2.4 - 2.5 million units within 24 hours in the U.S., Halo 3 made a devastating 170 million dollar debut, burying Halo 2's record.
HALO IS BETTER
While Half-Life unquestionably is good, the medal should certainly go to Halo. I am more fond of its graphics and its action. In addition, it has splendid multiplayer, which makes Halo a more complete game. I also find Halo's story more epic than Half-Life's. Nevertheless, Half-Life is still a game of high quality - not all games are capable of being better than Halo.
Merely on Xbox 360...
If Master Chief and Freeman would fight in a town, in the end, this is probably the way the town would have looked.
