I dont understand why everybody (atleast most people) says Halo CE was a better game. In terms of single player, yes halo CE was better

but halo 2 wins without a doubt in multiplayer and thats what halo is all about

if you think halo CE is better tell me why

Both were EXCELLENT games, but prepare to get flamed from haters who will complain about noob comboing and shorter campaigns. I personally cannot separate the two. I liked them both equally very much.

The problem that I have with Halo is grenades.  Their grenade mechanics are TERRIBLE, imo.  Many maps can simply be turned into grenade chuck-fests.  Halo CE has a much better balance than Halo 2.  The only real problem that I see with CE was the magnum.  Its power should have been cut about 1/3, and it would have been perfect.

Halo CE's multiplayer kept my attention better than Halo 2's multiplayer. Same can be said about Halo's single player.

No it's not. Most gamers value SP over MP, and Halo CE had  the far superior one. Bungie even admitted that they screwed up with Halo 2.

Yes, because they couldn't include everything they wanted in it. That didn't make it a bad game. I hate when people quote the developers on this but don't include WHY the developers said that.

They admitted they didn't have enough time to finish it and implement everything, they are still happy with their product. And Halo 2 had a FAR better SP that CE. The Arbiter alone PWNS all of HALO CE SP.

I didn't like the single player in Halo 2, I can't say why, maybe it felt too linear or something, or just too much like one setpiece after another, one issue I had with both games was the repitition, in fact I took to always memorising the last 2 rooms I had been in so I never got caught out by the level design.

Actually the grenade were about 25% more powerful in Halo CE and you could throw them farther and in more of a line instead of Halo 2s arch type throw. The balance was much better in Halo 2.

LOL! wow... halo is not and never has been the best FPS consoles ever had. Goldeneye is not only a milestone in console FPS, but in FPS history as well. It will go down as one of the most innovative shooter of all time right there next to the original Half-Life. Even Perfect Dark, a game that is 7 years old, is STILL better than halo ever was. Timesplitters is good too. Metroid Prime is amazingly original. Halo is fun. But the best? Absolutely not.

I always thought that Shotgun/Pistol was basically the best pairing in CE. Besides, I wouldn't call the pistol overally gamebreaking since everybody started out with it and you still needed to know how to zoom n' move without getting killed.

Halo: Combat Evolved had a much bigger impact than Halo 2. A lot of the ideas presented in Halo have become standards for the genre, Halo 2 just expanded on those ideas rather than introducing any new ones.

True, but as a "n00b combo" it works almost as well as the battle rifle/plasma pistol in Halo 2. The only reason it's not better is the battle rifle has a three-shot burst to help with the following headshot.

I liked Halo: Combat Evolved more, but played Halo 2 more because of its Xbox Live multiplayer. However, if Halo: Combat Evolved had Xbox Live, I'd be playing that more.

While he shouldn't feel bad, it's a known fact that there were people (Me, for example) who were disappointed with Halo 2's campaign. That's something that plenty of people made clear and you should really just accept it. I do agree, however, that those who were disappointed with the single player shouldn't be speaking for you.

The problem people have with H2, is that while the single player is still outstanding, it's only the Multiplayer portion that truly moved forward leaps and bounds.

I don't believe that Halo 2's multiplayer was really better. Tons of people just say that because of Xbox Live, but that doesn't mean that the actual multiplayer gameplay was better. Like I said before, if Halo: Combat Evolved had Xbox Live, I'd be playing that more than Halo 2.

Halo 2 was crap compared to Halo: CE, the single player sucked so hard it wasnt even funny, it was boring and so easy, there were no tactics required. Halo 2's multiplayer was also crap, but so was CE's since they were pretty much the exact same systems with the same boring weapons and vehicles and some similar maps.

- Recharging Health

- limiting the number of weapons you can carry

- giving grenades their own seperate button instead of making them weapons you have to equip.

Funny cause Goldeneye did it long before Halo was even created. Im sorry but no shooter has better double weilding then Goldeneye, dual Moonraker laser or AK47's was pure pwnage, or dual rocket launchers or grenade launchers as well.

[QUOTE="Kikouken"]Wth is so special about Halo. Just another FPS game. organic_machine

Many of today's FPS conventions were introduced in Halo, so no it is not just another FPS.

Like? The ONLY truly innovative thing I found in the Halo series was the dual wielding in Halo 2. That was, in fact, the best dual wielding system ever incorperated into a game.

- Recharging Health

- Melee attack with every weapon

- limiting the number of weapons you can carry

- giving grenades their own seperate button instead of making them weapons you have to equip.

They werent introduced in halo....

Where were they introduced then?
