oh cause i heard that you can only play it if u have a windows live id or somethin which i have already wit my 360 and its 50 a year so is that the same as the 50 a yr xbox live therefore i wouldnt have to pay anything extra?
If I remember right you still need Windows live but you no longer require a xbox live gold subscription to play games for windows over multiplayer. Widows 7 or vista is required to play them so thats why I still don't have the game.oh cause i heard that you can only play it if u have a windows live id or somethin which i have already wit my 360 and its 50 a year so is that the same as the 50 a yr xbox live therefore i wouldnt have to pay anything extra?

It's been free ever since it was released...
Well, GfWL users previously had to pay for gold as XBL users do, but the game could be played online with a silver account. Now, I believe you just get all the GfWL Gold content for free with silver... or something to that effect. ;)you guys say that to most every thing on pc...Online play, buying dlc...buying actual full games...I didn't think they even charged you with a live account on Halo 2. They did on Gears of Wars try get PC gamers to have and xbox live account to play online. Well we just said FU and then M$ made it free to play.

And now it's glitched and you can't install it properly without a bunch of cracks on workarounds (which I think they said they will correct at some point). And epic wonders why nobody bought it on the pc.I didn't think they even charged you with a live account on Halo 2. Almost all games. But not all. Check out FSX and see just how much payware addons are available for it. There's a virtual industry of payware mods for it. There are some games with addons people will be willing to pay for.
I was played it right after all the servers shut down just because I could :P*COUGH* You can't play online because they shut down the servers. Yes I'm talking about the PC version. Halo 1 MP is better anyway.
Cronik959
Yes you can. On PC a dev shutting down the master server is just a minor inconvenience for games that run on dedicated servers*COUGH* You can't play online because they shut down the servers. Yes I'm talking about the PC version. Halo 1 MP is better anyway.

Considering the PC has the largest library (and largest selection of quality games) even if you only count this generation, SOMEONE must be buying them for developers to keep making games for the platform.
And if you were trying to be clever or funny, you also failed miserably.
No, playing online with Halo 2 PC is free, all you need to do is buy a copy of the game.so if i already got a live account will they charge me extra to play online?

I don't see how that is relevant, but it "requires" Vista, or Windows 7. It can be made to work on XP, though I think there might be online issues in that case.Out of interest, how active are Halo CE and 2's communities? I think I played the CE demo a few months ago, and there were loads of full servers.Ravensmash
In terms of numbers small, like 5000. But thats 5000 every time, all the time. PC games dont have the "wasteland" online that plauge consoles.

5000 for a Halo game is almost the definition of what people mean when they call an online community a wasteland, KZ2 has around 50k and it gets called a wasteland by some.

How many are playing Halo 2 online on the xbox? Zero.[QUOTE="Cali3350"]

I don´t know about Halo 2,but I have Halo CE for the PC and I know it still has a pretty decent active online comunity,at least good enough to easily find a game.

Yeah, it's not like WoW has 12million subs or anything...
We're just not willing to be bent over and charged for things that were always, and should always be free. Like access to multi-player.
