And we all know what that flaw was. The thing which ruined one of the funnest multiplayer experiences of all time (when you're not playing with friends, at least). The newest addition to Halo 3 is called "the A-hole button", detailed here:

"Anyone who’s played MP on Xbox Live knows the following is true: Teenagers, plus anonymity, plus microphone = idiot. Xbox Live already gives you powerful tools to mute, well, tools on a case by case basis. The “A-Hole Button” in Halo 3 lets you exact instant, silent vengeance. These kind of vocal buttmunches, as it turns out, are exactly as fun to play against as normal people, as long as you can’t hear them. So now, you simply press a button (back button, for the moment anyway) and up comes the score list with everyone’s tag on it. The right stick lets you highlight the miscreant and you can then instantly mute them for the rest of the game. These morons continue smacktalking anyway because they can’t help themselves, but if you don’t have to listen to it, you can simply enjoy killing them over and over again, knowing that as their Ritalin wears off and their frustration builds, it’s less and less fun for them. Aaaah. So satisfying."

They should make it so that if 95% or so of the server mutes a single person, random static is sent through to the offender's speakers/headphones. :P

Funny that it's actually written that way on Bungie.com - it's one thing I like about them.  They're not afraid of coming off a little unprofessional.

THANK YOU!!!! I loved Halo 2's SP. I got such a sense of "epic" the whole time I was playing it, particularly the last section. There's a theme in Halo 2 that didn't actually make it to EITHER of the soundtrack CDs (grrrrrrr)...at the final mission, there's a part where the theme plays when you get a glimpse of the Covenant craft (name eludes me at the moment).....I was just....."wow"

I've played through it 85 times and counting, it was awsome. And of all the things it was, short was not one of them. The Arbiter is the best original character I've ever seen in a game.

I loved the single player. The only thing that bothered me was Gravemind. Up until that point, everything was technological and advanced civilisation.... then out of nowhere there's this thing with magical powers.

I agree. I was only upset because I had to wait to play as Master Chief again. But it does make you appreciate playing as MC.

Well, to each his own. I was completely burnt out and disappointed by the SP, because it didn't even match Halo 1, in every category.

The same one that plays a little bit during the very first mission? Ooooo, you suck. That's the best theme from the entire franchise, and it didn't make it on either soundtrack. WTF. Anyway, High Charity - that was it.

I always though that the Halo soundtrack was the best video game soundtrack ever. It was absolutely superb, because even though a lot of it was techno and rock, it mixed with a chorus and the melody that resulted was pure epic.

The learning curve of Halo 2 is almost nothing compared to Halo 1. Halo 2 is pretty much about teamwork and has almost nothing to do with individual skill. The longer you stay with your team the better you get, Carbon and FB are both examples. In Halo 2, the better weapon wins. Any matchmaking noob can dual wield and find someway to kill you just by large amounts of spraying. I played Halo 2 since the day it came out, got good, but stopped playing because the only way to get noticed in the game is by being on a team that is successful.

Halo 2's biggest flaw was its absurd amounts of aim-assist and huge-ass hitboxes in multiplayer.

Hope they fix that mess or I don't see myself playing much Halo 3 MP.

Make me. Seriously though, The Covenant Civil war felt tacked on and uninspiring (it was introduced so non-chalantly), The transition from the MC levels and Arbiter levels were atrocious, it was a short game, and they turned some great characters such as Sarg. Johnson from a respectable officer in Halo 1 to the token black dude with attitude in Halo 2.

Bottom line, Halo = insane fun. I don't play games based on the sizes of the hit-boxes, I play them cause they're fun.:D BTW, if you really want "absurd amounts of auto-aim and huge-ass hitboxes," play Goldeneye....

What i want most in Halo 3 is for the single player to be awesome and epic and really long. I know theyre gonna nail the online so im not bothered about that, but the SP is where it matters most for me

yeah its been done since XBL first launched.  the point is that now its much easier for players to mute someone rather than going through the player's menu or guide menu to mute them.  i dont see why your making a big deal out of it, guess it gets kinda lonely on PSN when 98% of the people dont talk at all

A) Sergent Avery J. Johnson was always the token black guy and Davis Scully(voice overs) is the man.

B) The Covenant operate in a hierarchy, civil war is inevitable. Plus, contrary to popular opinion, the entire Halo story was written pre-Halo1. Tacked on, it was not.

No, the problem with that is to many people only play online and they get used to certain weapons. After being forced to use all the weapons in Legendary, you become very proficient at them. I'm equally deadly with any weapon.

A) My point exactly, the TOKEN BLACK GUY is a freaking overused stereotype B) I never said that it wasn't thought out, it FELT rushed and tacked on, they could have gone into much more detail about it.

Exactly. Bottom line I guess if you continue to get pwned by "noobs" then you are not as skilled as you think.

I know the token black guy is overused, heck I'm the token black guy in my group of friends. All I was saying is that he was token in both games, you made it seem as though he wasn't token in Halo1.

I don't think people understand what this is about. Ever tried muting anyone on xbox live? You gotta plow through a menu or two with awfully slow moving sliders. I think it would take at least 10 seconds to mute just one person. When bungie turns that to 1 or 2 seconds they're doing a good thing. It's just one of those little things that can make a game better.

What exactly do you mean "skill level"? There were people who were incredibly skilled at Halo 2, and there were those who weren't.

I don't get owned by noobs because I don't play matchmaking.

[QUOTE="Velocitas8"]Halo 2's biggest flaw was its absurd amounts of auto-aim and huge-ass hitboxes in multiplayer.

Hope they fix that mess.

Bottom line, Halo = insane fun. I don't play games based on the sizes of the hit-boxes, I play them cause they're fun.:D BTW, if you really want "absurd amounts of auto-aim and huge-ass hitboxes," play Goldeneye....

I had a lot of fun with Halo. Not Halo 2 though. The terrible weapon balance (much worse than Halo 1, if that's even possible) was another annoyance of mine.

I play multiplayer FPS games for the enjoyment of competition..Halo 2 is quite shallow, I got very little enjoyment out of progressing along the very gradual learning curve. Not enough to keep my attention, and the game was obviously intended for casual gamers. No offense intended.

[QUOTE="XxX_Slython_XxX"] Make me.

You're making yourself look silly now. The civil war was tacked on? Right on the very first cutscene they show you that there's a rift in the Covenant. The General who has overseen the downfall of humanity is being sentenced as a heretic for his failuer to protect Halo. There are Brutes in the chamber of the Prophets. You play as the Arbiter in an attempt to stop a growing rebellion of heretics who have learned the truth about the Covenant beliefs. Later, a Prophet is killed which gives the Brutes even more ammo to accues the Elites of incompetance. Slowly but surely you see the Elites being replaced; cutscenes where they're having their honour-guard armour removed and given to the Brutes. Until you hit the level where they outright turn on the elites and start cutting them down.

"My god... what have these brutes done?"

Then the war begins. Cortana tells you covenant capital ships are firing on each other. Brutes and elites start blowing each other apart. Grunts/jackals/drones start taking sides.

Tacked on my ass. :|

He wasn't though. Anyhoo, an opinion is an opinion, and I respect yours.

the biggest problem with halo 2 was all the pointless things they added onto it to differentiate it from halo 1. like dual wielding, SMG, auto aim, the graphics, the jumping, the speed, the single player it was all bad, compared to halo 1. what a terrible disappointment. i really hope they go back to the old style for this new game.
