weren't you the one saying "industry insider" blogs were a source of credible information?

Rumors surface for a reason....usually there is some truth to them.
This news is not out out of the question........the number of copies sold will be much higher than 4 million once it is released.
After seeing that crappy beta, well the high res dirt hills looked next gen, I don't get all the fuss. I loved Halo 1 and 2, and I will finish the series, but what is the big deal? The Mongoose, a freakin non-combat four wheeler, a laser and a human cannon, big deal. The multi-player looks about the same as two.briguyb13
whats your problem? there are going to be way more weapons and vehicles in the finished version. And the graphics are great, they might not be as good as Gears of War or Crysis, but they're enough. Besides Single player always looks better than Multiplayer. Btw: why the hell are you complaining about graphics? Gameplay>>Graphics is sheep motto isn't it?Â

If you put a name and title to the blog. When you are anonymous, you don't have much credibility.Â

Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) Halo 2 video game racked up sales of $125 million the day it hit the market. The world's largest software company believes that sales of the new Halo 3 game will be even larger. Aside from a version of the game for the Xbox 360, there will also be a Halo 3 for the Microsoft Zune.
According to one video game review publication, the newest version of the game is meant to fend off competition for the Sony (NYSE: SNE) PS3 and Nintendo Wii.
Video game industry experts say that Halo 3 has four million pre-orders from retailers, compared with 1.5 million for the launch of Halo 2. If that is true, it may add to the troubles for the already shaky start of the new PS3. Most surveys show the new Sony platform's sales lagging the unexpectedly popular Wii and the Xbox.
Wall Street and the gaming industry did not expect that Xbox, which was launched in late 2001, had much of a chance of catching Sony. The Japanese company simply had too large a lead. But, it is now Sony that is struggling to move back into first place. PS3 problems have even been blamed for the departure from Sony of PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi.
The Microsoft way is to enter a business, out-develop and out-spend competition, and then finish them off. It seems to be working against Sony.

This news is not out out of the question........the number of copies sold will be much higher than 4 million once it is released.
The rumor is supposed to be about GameStop/EB preorders alone, and they account for far less than half all game sales, so if they claim 4 million, Halo 3 would have an opening day pre-order somewhere along the lines of 4 times more than Halo 2. While I know its popular, I just don't see it selling to every Halo 2 owner in pre-orders.Â

Not a sheep. Don't believe me? Check my profile. Anywho I don't care about multi anyways.   Allow me to clarify, Tango, since you don't seem to get it.
   This is a credible blog.

It's indeed a far fetch, but I quess a lot of people are now "jumping in" (:P gotta hate that motto)Â because xbox 360 seems to become a far better platform than the original xbox. I can understand people not buying xbox just because of one franchise. I quess practically everyone can see some awesome games besides halo 3 on xbox 360 though. That may explain some preorders too. (although probably not much)It will be the best single day selling game yet.

I have no doubt that it will be the best single day selling game. I highly doubt that 4 million people pre-odered from EB/GameStop. I also highly doubt that some 8 million copies will be sold the first weekend.Â
If it does, great, but I would not hold my breath.Â

Where does it say these are just from EB/Gamestop? I know the original article mentioned them as a source but it never said specifically 4 million from just Eb and Gamestop.
Even so 4 million seems too high to me to be true. You never know though.Â

Â
8 million? No way.
Â
But first week sales should be somewhere between 4 to 6 million.
Â
You have to take into account that many people are holding off on their 360 purchase until this game is released.......plus it will be around the holidays and people seem to throw a lot of cash around during that time of year.
i really wouldn't doubt it. my stores around here say they are nearing their quota.lespaul1919
havent you heard? the Halo 1 pistol will not be in Halo 3. It will only look similarly, but with a smaller clip and NO scopeÂ

Halo 2 sold 2.5 million in 24 hours. I would think Halo 3 would be slightly higher, around 3 million. Not sure how the rest of the week would fare, but 4 million seems reasonable.

The article that I would assume that this is going on (since they never say a source) had the source as local GameStop/EB games locations, and suposedly a leaked paper from the GS heads saying they hit 4 million pre-orders (although that paper was never put up anywhere for review).Â
Myself, if Halo 3 had that many pre-orders from one outlet alone, I would expect MS to be tossing that number out all over. Yet they are remaining mum, which leads me to question its validity a bit.Â
