Halo 3 is looking like GOTY to me...

I just think it's going to be a trully brilliant game and hugely successful too.

I needed to start the morning with a good laugh, so thank you. Halo 3 does a wonderful job of *combining* elements for a fun game - but it's standing on the shoulders of giants. Good on it for bringing Gary's mod and other PC-greats into the console world, but to say GOTY? Ehh... if Halo 3 is GOTY, given the number of fantastic, far more original titles coming out, that would be kind of sad.subrosian

Don't be so quick to judge, you haven't played the final game yet and you don't know if it is GOTY material or not, it's getting annoying always telling people this :roll:

It will have some of the best MP around (possibly some of the best MP PERIOD on consoles, I would of said SSBM a while ago...) that and a truley epic SP can warrant a GOTY award. Not everything has to be totally new and original, Halo 3 is a continuation of a winning formula.

I really don't think you are grasping quite what this game is going to bring to the table, and if you don't see that it is currently one of the front runners for game of the year then you really need to take a closer look. Some of the online features and editing features alone are going to blow people away.

I just read about a baseball type game that was set-up using gravity hammers and missiles, where if you hit it then the missile will be deflected without detonating, but if you time it wrong you will blow up and therefore that will be a strike out. If this is the kind of stuff we are seeing this early on then just imagine how creative people are going to get later down the line and all the amazing fun that is possible with this game. And that doesn't even consider how good the basic single player and multi-player games are going to be...

Sorry, Crysis has has superb reviews in all 3 of its enviroments... in every aspect (Original Aliens , Amazing Sound, Graphics, Gameplay Mechanics) ... The Multiplayer, while ofcourse at this point needs alot of refinement is shaping up to be awesome...

Crysis has a higher chance, it is actually being deemed original and great at the same time, like world in conflict.

Bioshock is a next-gen SS2.
Crysis is a high-tech Far Cry with MP modes from BF and other games.

Multiplayer games with 1-2-3 modes can be easily better than 5-10 similar modes that have been done to death can offer .... it doesnt even have a large-scale objectives mode which is a huge dissapointment.

i don't think mario will win, but i see it as a major contender along with the others i mentioned. mass effect will probs get GOTY i agree, even though it looks painfully boring imo.

Big Rigs was pretty original.. how many other games let you win by doing nothing, let you drive out of the map forever and contain even more unrelistic driving physics then burnout? Yet.. I don't remember it winning many Game of the Year awards.

More seriously: Just because something is "original" doesn't make it any better of a game, Halo 3 could be completly unoriginal in every single way, and still be the most fun game ever made. And a game could be completely original, and suck.

Point being: Stop making out being original is some form of super awesome thing that makes a game AAAA or something. (Not you in particular.. everyone)

Crysis does not have better sound than Halo 3, FACT.
Crysis can be done on PS3 and 360, whereas Halo 3 can only be done on the 360.

I think it's got a great shot at being GOTY. So what if it's the 3rd entry in the series? By the looks of it, it still looks be awesome fun and it's bringing lots of new stuff to the table, and that's what we want from this title.

GOTY and 9.5/10 I think.

I'm a big Halo fan and I read the books, but a decent gaming PC can be built for 1500$

to win GOTY a game has to be outstanding and amazing at the time of release, and its harder to do that if your just a same old, same old sequel like halo 3. The only GOTY that i feel is undeserved is gears of war, althoughgears winning last year leaves hope for crysis to win GOTY 2008 based completely on pretty graphics.
