I was one of those 1.2 million :)
I'd have to agree with you tharr. I don't know how many people are on counterstrike but i think it may be on par with halo 3 prime-time.
Well, the millions and millions who bought Halo 3 have to do something with the game. It's not like playing a mediocre campaign over and over again is any fun.Nathan_Drake
You know, online co-op games contribute to the number of players online. And the co-op campaign is very, very fun. Hell, I loved the singleplayer campaign by myself. Thought it was one of the most fun campaigns in recent years. Apparently Gamespot agrees with me, too. I can't believe Cows are still damage controlling Halo 3's incredible success, both critically and sales-wise.
I don't think that it's even topped Final Fantasy 11. That's just my guess. Halo 3 the biggest? Naw. ChrisMun
I gaurantee theresnot even 100,000 players on FFXI at any given time. Not to forget that the PS2 audience is quite small. The game is mostly populated by Korean and JapanesePC players.
P.S. do you play it? what server ya on?

I'm not going to complain about the games straight-up online, and yeah maybe more fun is added by doing the campaign with friends, but it really is a mediocre romp for a game that was advertised as the second coming of Christ. Too short, too unoriginal (even from it's own franchise....the finale anyone?) and it seemed badly paced, much like Halo 2.
Still, I will notargue about it's straight-up online experience. Slayer, CTF. Good times.
[QUOTE="omgimba"]Would be kinda sad if Halo 3 didn't show these numbers playing online. Considering how many bought it and the games mediocre SP. smarb001
have you played it?
Obviously omgimba hasnt played it.It all comes down to console online and Xbox Live is the best. None of these online enable games won't matter if the online support isnt there. That's why Xbox Live is on top while the other consoles are not even in the same league of perfection.
[QUOTE="GatoFeo"]Mmmm... Soon hhe hype is going to wear down. heard Halo 3 is getting boring quickly, so....Deihmos
Halo 3 will remain popular for many years.
I'll never understand why people play the same game for years. I played halo 1(pc) and 2 online for maybe a month and it just got terribly boring. People are already getting bored of the forge thing[QUOTE="-Tretiak"][QUOTE="Nathan_Drake"]Well, the millions and millions who bought Halo 3 have to do something with the game. I can see why you would think so, but I found it to be the opposite. It was short yes... but it's a shooter. Im not expecting it to be long. And I also thought it was paced well, because I did not get bored.

People are already getting bored of the forge thingPeople play games for months, even years because they're fun for all that time. I don't understand how people can play a game that they've bought for a couple weeks or a month and then put them up on a shelf and forget about them. Personally, I play and enjoymygames formonths, even years down the line and I regularly go back and play my older games.
BTW, I spent an hour playing Forge with 8 of my friends last night, It was amazingly fun going around spawning weapons everywhere, playing rocket baseball and blowing the elephant sky high (literally). I don't see myself getting tired of Forge for months.
The only thing wrong with the online in my opinion is 50% of the maps aren't good (guardian and isolation especially), the mixing of team snipers and team slayer ( I hate when shotty snipers comes up and no one vetoes it, since I'm horrible with the sniper:D), and for some reason the matchmaking is a lot slower than halo 2's. It's still a great game though, although I don't see the point of forge. I could change the weapons around in Gears of War ( not like forge, but you get the point), I don't see the big deal. Maybe if I could change the geometry or whatever you want to call it I'd be intrested ( or allow me to make my own maps, but then how would they sell DLC?;))
