1. Matchmaking - you can play in 5 different Ranked game types, and this will keep you playing with people on your skill level. Once you hit a ceiling in Ranked games you can switch to Socail games, which are a little less competative and you can pwn noobs and gain Exp.

2. Custome games - here is where the magic happens. You can change just about any settings to make a match with exactly the rules you want.

3. Forge - Mark my word, there will be some EPIC user created maps. Foundry is the ultimate sandbox/playground. The possibilities are truely endless. This is beginning of modding and mapping for the mainstream. Its really pretty easy to use after you get used to it.

4. Bungie- I think they are the best dev in the world right now. (along with blizzard) They are working on tons of new content for Halo 3. By the time Heroic DLC is available for free to everyone there will be some of those epic user maps I was talking about. Bungie is also honoring Halo And Halo 2 fans by releasing maps from those games in the near future.

Making a masterfull map and then getting a group full of people to play on it is truely fun.

I do greatly enjoy Halo 3 online. It's the one game I won't lend to friends. Someone asked me the other day, in fact. Needless to say- I didnt' lend it out.

New content (which is typically free on the PC), custom content and custom games really aren't new and it's been done better before. Modding and mapping has already been done for the mainstream, just look at the amount of skins there are for CS, there is even a lightsaber for a knife.

It's the most complete online game for consoles.

LOL, when I first played the multi, I swore there was only like 3 maps available. Halo 3 multi is fun, but definitely NOT complete.

its good but I have played better online games. COD4 for example. R6V on the 360, and I had more fun on warhawk on the ps3. warhawk is not more complete, but its more FUN.

I've heard a few people say that. And I used to think that, but after a while, I missed Halo 3. Halo is still my go-to multi.

Moding and mapping is not mainstream. You have to know about programing to do those sort of things. In Halo3 you can just go into forge and create with ease.

I agree it is the most complete console multiplayer experience.  However, I think Call of Duty 4 is a better overall multiplayer game.  It may not have quite as much in terms of content, but think the gameplay is a little better.  That is just me, though.  Halo 3 is still a killer multiplayer game.

It was alright. Not my cup of tea. Too slow and repetative for me. I felt like I was always playing shotty snipers ont eh same two levels... SoI traded in my copy when gamestop ran a deal for preordering mario galaxy and got 35 dollars credit for it. best trade I ever made.

I have more fun playing TF2, CS, unreal 3, quakeand call of duty 4 online than I do halo (any number). Call of duty 4 is the only slow paced fps i have really enjoyed. I need to also pick up a copy for my 360... or rather a real copy of it... due to my copy not being able to go online with it due to reasons i cant state on gamespot unless i wanted to be banned again.

i was excited about forge until i got my hands on it. it can not even hold a flame to the level creator in timespliters 2 from last gen. if it had a more robust level creator i would have held on to it most likley.

Mainstream means that something has a large exposure, you may need programming knowledge, but that's fine, because thousands have that knowledge on the PC. Internet guides show step by step how you ca make maps. My friend made a CS skin in 2 days with no background knowledge.

Matchmaking is a vastly inferior way to do things compared to server browsers housing dedicated servers. Feel like playing a certain type of mutator? Hop onto a server thats always up, is always playing it, and is almost always full with the same people.

Oh, so know we are only talking about matchmaking and shooters

Not about online in general and all of the other attributes you used for your point. Well, I understand that as Warcrsft has everything you said in your OP, except for Forge, but that's fine becuase Warcraft 3 has a far better SDK.

The funny thing is, it's debatable that matchmaking is even better than the traditional system. So your arguement is pretty weak as it stands now.

I don't like matchmaking either, if it was better it would be the norm now, but it isn't.

Public servers and server lists for games like Counter Strike are great, but in CS half my team are always noobs and no one makes much of an effort at teamwork. (dont get me wrong CS is still my favorite all time game)

In Halo 3 ranked matchmaking teamwork is much more common, and most people have mics.

Find the right servers on CS and you'll find that same level of teamwork. Although it's not all that common on CS on public servers. Have you tried playing CS at clan level, it's a whole different game. You must know at least three different tactics for each side on each map to really suceeed and teamwork is more commonplace and vital than it is in Halo 3.

Yes and there are a couple CS tactics server where using teamwork and tactics is required and you will get booted and banned otherwise. But theres is only a couple that I have a low ping for.

The funny thing is, it's debatable that matchmaking is even better than the traditional system. So your arguement is pretty weak as it stands now.

So your saying there are - atleast - a couple servers that use good tactics that you enjoy playing on and are always up avaiable to you.

How is that worse then a randomized matchmaking utility?

No one is even on those servers during most of the day, especially now that CS is fading in popularity.

Overall it is easier to find teamwork oriented games at any time in Halo 3.

There are - at this very moment in time - over 297,000 people playing CS. Midday on Tuesday.

Your even trying to find servers if you really believe what you just wrote.

Halo does not give you the opportunity to choose your server, your specific gametype, the exact people you play with, AND support for very very many more players.

Halo 3 is a great multiplayer game for a limited system with limited resources. Dont try and reach that toward is being the best.

Well, I have over 40 servers on my favorites, which are always full. All of them are teamwork orientated.

Cali3350: IN custome games you can make the games exactly the way you want. And with a freinds list full of 99 good people it is easy to populate such a game.

I got a question....does Bungie just takes concepts from PC and put them into their console games and get praised as a brilliant and innovative developer?? Or have they actually created their own concepts for their games?

Switch it around, Halo3 gets boring quick, its exactly like Halo2 and we played through Halo2 for mindless hours, it gets boring quick, its the same formula, COD4 is plain better.

modding and mapping in forge is annoying and hard to do

and there will not be EPIC user created maps, you cant' even make a map. you can move stuff around sure, you can pile boxes. AMAZING.

and yes this is a great multiplayer game.

Halo 3 is a lot of fun when you got a room with your friends. To me, it's more of a social get-together. However, I still perfer TF2 and Zombie survival in Garry's Mod for multiplayer fun.

Also, Far Cry for the 360 has a map maker and multiplayer is better. Sure downloading maps are a hassle but there is so much creativity compared to Halo 3's Forge.

boo halo 3, matchmaking sucks.

i always find a game and am ready to play and than the search stars over and it takes another 5 minutes to find a game. teamchat is unneccesary; they built an easy mute system to mute people you don't want to hear.

forge takes hours to make something good, and you still need to rely on honor system rules for a lot of gametypes.

Bungie is just ripping everyone off with their overpriced crappy maps. the new maps suck there is no way they're worth ten dollars they just plain suck.

step your game up Bungie.
