Halo 3 ODST and a price cut in the same month.. 360 still comes in 3rd place.

Is this a bad sign for MS? I mean this is HUGE.. I dont EVER remember the 360 EVER being in 3rd place for a month since the PS3 and wii launched although i could be wrong, but even if im wrong.. I mean the 360 gota $100 price cut AND another big Halo game in the SAME month and the PS3 STILL outsold it by 140,000 consoles! WOW i just realized that the PS3 outsold the 360 by the same amount of PS2s sold that month! and the PS3 even outsold the wii which is a SHOCKER.

With no true AAA games in sight and if Halo 3 ODST really didnt move any consoles, what else can MS do until Natal comes out atleast? is 360 in danger of coming in third this gen? discuss

funny how u ignore 360 had 5 software titles in the top 10, and ODST outsold every ps3 software title combined, never midn the other 360 titles in the top 10.

do u really want me to bring up the dozens of months that ps3 was 3rd? last? when thew gameboy advance outsold the ps3?

forza 3, Left 4 Dead 2, GTA: EFLC, and Modern Warfare 2 getting all the buzz to the 360 side with ps3 getting the scraps of the hype.

I dont think you should be talking about third place when the ps3 is still in THIRD place

expansions (odst) and sequels to games that already came out this gen arent usually system sellers

its illogical to think that alot of people would buy the 360 for odst when halo 3 already came out 2 years ago....

I think most people that are interested in ODST already had a 360 to begin with, and the sales proves my theory. :)

Well the PS3 price cut was what many gamers (including myself) were waiting for.

The ps3 pricecut was a lot more anticpated than the 360's and alot more marginal. Alot of people did complain about the fatty's size, secondly, the sales may have recieved a big buzz in september, but thats not saying that the console will continue doing that forever. The people who bought the ps3 now, may very well just been the people who were waiting for a reasonable price. The potential market is very narrow, since a lot of households limits themselves to only 1 console, which the wii completely dominated.

And a $50 REBATE as well, TC.

It's not a bad sign, it still sold well. People have wanted a PS3 for a long, long time, and now the price is right, that's all.

I can see the anger sharks swimming nearby this post right now. But why not I'll throw my 2 cents in. Halo ODST is not going to sell new consoles. If you have a 360 to play Halo, you already have the hardware. It's nothing new or revolutionary. We'll revisit this topic daily for the next few years. Nobody will win in the end.

Considering Halo 3 came out 2 years ago, chances are that people who bought a 360 specifically for Halo already own their console.

....also, the 360 didnt really have a 'price cut'... the 360 elite became the premium

well, at this point, the 'race' between sony and ms is getting a little interesting. anyway, besides sales, SW is full of graphics thread... so pick your poison

but in reality, this hobby of ours survives purely on sales.... companies dont spend millions on games like UC2 and Gears to give them away for free

The PS3 had a price cut, a new model introduced, a killer app, and is just now approaching it's peak, where as the 360's hardware market is now saturated, i.e. everyone who wanted one has one, and the 360 is also a year older then the PS3 so it was inevitable that it would start it's decline first. Right now more people are shifting their attention to the 360's software library and accessories then the console itself
