Halo 3 is predicted to sell 10 million units or so by many lemmings. This seems reasonable. Halo 2 sold around 7.5 million. 25% of Xbox owners have Halo 2. Around 40% of Xbox owners had online. So, around 15% of Xbox owners who had online didn't play Halo 2 online. See the problem here? Many Halo 2 fans quit playing all other games and just played Halo 2 online. Other online multiplayer Xbox games suffered as a result. It is still very easy to find someone to play Halo 2 against online...and it is now 2 and a half years later. The same can't be said for other Xbox games.
Now, knowing all this, what do you think is going to happen to online muliplayer 360 games that release after Halo 3? They are going to suffer, and suffer big.
Think I'm being silly? Consider this game...Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory online died out incredibly quickly. People kept going back to Halo 2. Splinter Cell's online was great! Didn't matter against the mighty popularity of Halo 2 though.
Good luck finding people on Xbox Live who aren't playing Halo 2 these days!
Halo fanbase will get even bigger with Halo 3. Good luck developers! You are going to need it to compete with the ridiculous online multiplayer aspect of Halo 3! Developers might be wasting their time even trying.
I imagine many Xbox 360 online games being a virtual ghost town after Halo 3 releases. Do you even think for a second Huxley will even be able to compete! This stinks! I feel sorry for those owners of 360 who like online multiplayer, and want to play other games besides Halo 3. Prepare for all other online multiplayer games to suffer the consequences lemmings !!. :?
