Halo 3 Unofficial Hype Thread 8.5.

Since the wave of flops recently we should take into account every game that was hyped AAA.

Since the first Two Metroids Scored Really high aboce AAA, So did the first two halos, they say third times a charm but is it the other way around these days.

It's just more of the same, so I won't be surprised if it only gets AA.

Edit: Yeah, as the above poster says, it is officially hyped AAA though.

Read the EGM Halo 3 edition magazine. Yes it's the same stuff but they built a lot onto it.

Campaign + legendary difficulty + saved films + multiplayer famous for being played years after release + forge = one of the biggest, longest game experiences ever. And so long as that Halo quality is there to make it enjoyable as well as long, there's no way it's only getting AAA.

THAT much quality content is hard to not recommend.

Halo 3 will not score lower than 9.0 on gamespot. I don't see how that is even possible. Halo goes next gen = AAA game. Even if its more of the same its more of what most have come to love and adore. Plus the whole replay and forge thing makes it have even more value.NFJSupreme

Halo 2 campaign was boring as hell if you didn't play Co-op. With co-op you could at least have a laugh w/ another player when you got smacked by one of those glowing gorilla dudes. Halo 3 deserves an 8.5.

Yup, I simply meant that they're making no major changes, just a few cool additions.

past games being AAA does not mean this is a definite AAA even though it has a chance at it

It might manage to pull of a 9.0 though an 8.5 would be fitting; it'll get more play than most games this year anyway. I must say that it wouldn't surprise me a great deal if Halo 2 retains a larger playerbase when all is said and done. If you rock @ Halo2 and try Halo3 and get wtfpwnt consistently for a month would you go back to Halo2 to be a big fish again? i have a feeling many will... so anyway, i still say Halo 3 gets a 9.0.

Prime is a lot more of the same, just with a different way to control it, according to the reviews.

Halo 3 is bringing a ton of new features that gamers can immediately see and appreciate. It also has the nextGen graphics going on reminding us once again that this isn't Halo 2.5.

Hard to believe it won't get AAA. By contrast, I see no reason to hype Prime as better than 9.0.

There was nothing 'next gen' about zelda... it looks virtually identical to GC version (with a reversed map being the only difference i could tell oh and 16:9 aspect ratio) plus a clumsy motion control scheme . Halo 3 on the other hand improves (allegedly) on every aspect of its prequels and pics and videos would later show noticable improvements on most aspect with visuals being the biggest jump.

Hyped AAA, we can't change it now (or else we'd have to bring down the hype on Heavenly Sword too).

Anyway, I think 9.5 and GOTY for Halo 3. Looks awesome.

while I personally didn't hype Metroid Prime 3 AAA either my point is still valid that simply being the sequel to a AAA game does not necesarily mean this will score as high, especially now that gamespot has gotten tougher with their reviews and that originality plays a big factor, being a finely tuned Halo game might not be enough to get AAA this time around imo

so true for all we know Halo 3 could be one of the best games of this year so I would not say it deserves an 8.5 till I have played it all the way through.

No way...

With all the new stuff we ALREADY know about in H3 the game has content through the roof... and everyone knows Bungie is well known for keeping major gameplay stuff under tight lids untill the game is released (Arbiter as a playable character H2, the whole Flood thing H1)

People can hate all they want, and when H3 blows the doors off other games, the haters will claim bias, and say its overrated, and M$ pays off the whole world to like its game.

This is a very high quality game, and its made by a developer (Bungie) that care, really care, about their product, not just hype and money. Add to that all the time they have had to make this one, the last one, the biggest, most fully featured Halo, I just dont see it disappointing fans of the seiries... and there are lots of Halo fans... lots.

Now I can actually see Killzone 2 outscoring it. It doesn't bother me though because I personally only care about Mass Effect and I dont even have a 360 lol! To me that game is going to be GOTY easy.

... How would they say THAT about Bioshock? Bioshock only has campaign. Nothing else. And it's not even a super long campaign like Oblivion or anything. Bioshock can be praised for many things, but an abundance of modes, it cannot.

Wii is next-gen (well current gen now), Metroid and Zelda (though Zelda is debatable since it was not exclusive) were on the Wii, so they went next-gen

I'm hyping it 9.5.

It's basically Halo 3.5 at this point... even the true anti-Halo people are running out of things to complain about. All you see now are threads calling Halo just "another generic FPS" because they've run out of other things to comment on, namely the graphics, which have turned out to be stellar. There are so many new features in Halo 3 that it's hard not to look forward to it.

Again, Halo 3.5 confirmed.

Perfect Dark Zero can get AAA.....Halo3 better get AAA or that is quite possibly the biggest flop I've ever seen. More than Metriod that is for sure.

The proven gamplay... Extra content out the wazoo... Value and re-playability.

TC, let me correct you. The first metroid prime scored a 9.7, while the second scored 9.0. Barely making AAA material. Halo was 9.7 and 9.4, which are high. If Metroid 3 can score a 8.5 and just barely miss AAA with practically nothing new, then halo 3 should Score AAA easily. It brings 4 player Co-op online, along with new vehicles, new weapons, a awesome film feature, and new gameplay modes. I believe halo 3 has AAA written all over it, and Quite Possibly GOTY...

Neither TP or MP3 did anthing new or had any outstanding features thir predecessors didn't have. Halo 3 has heaps of community options that weren't in the other 2.
