Halo 3 vs MGS 4

I would say Halo 3.

Uh, Popular? Halo 3, at this point in time, and maybe this whole gen.

Then again, I only speak from the Western side of the world, perhaps a world tally would surprise us. I think Halo has had just SO MUCH MARKETING out there for it, though.

MONEY can make things POPULAR. Of course, being of quality does help for longevity's sake.

Looking at sales it seems Halo 3 is popular by quite a large margin, though it's not exactly difficult to see why. Shooters are incredibly popular this generation (and made their mark last gen definitely) which is focused on Multiplayer, which is yet another thing that it seems the majority want this generation, whereas MGS4 is a single player experience and is the end of a 4-part tale of Solid Snake. Don't get me wrong though, I adored MGS4 (and am part of the single player > multiplayer camp who are, if not a minority, then at least rather non-vocal) but it's obvious that Halo takes the popularity crown.

Though you would need to define popularity I guess. I'd guarantee that most people who come in here and think for more than 10 seconds are going to equate popularity to sales; it's simply logical.

Anyone with a brain here know Halo would pretty lose anything here at system wars. People love to hate Halo here, even if they haven't played it.

Pretty much, but I wanted to emphasize that the games are too different to compare, as opposed to just pointing out that Halo is crap, which wouldn't really get us anywhere. Then again, nothing ever goes anywhere in System Wars, so what the hell?

From the current results, each of the three games are equally popular.

Among the genenral populous, of course Halo is more popular. I could have told you that. I'm justsaying that on System wars Halo is considered an evil monster.

If your suggesting though that MGS4 may eventaully hit a level of popularity similar to Halo, I'd say it's completly possible. MGS2 managed to sell over 7 mill. Thats just roughly 1 mill less than Halo 2 and 3's sells. If MGS4 can replicate that success then it has a fighting chance.

Well, if the user I was responding to had been more respectable about the game(like you are), then yeah sure, dislike it. I totally get where you come from. I can't stand turn based strategy games, but I respect them and I don't trash those game simply because I dislike them.

Well halo 3 is obviously more popular if u look at sales and the number of people that play it online.Honestly though i dont really see the need for this thread other than its just yet another ps3 vs. 360 thread.Both games are good and have there fanbase but if i had to choose only one id have to go with halo 3 just because i enjoy the multiplayer alot more than metal gears.Graphics wise though u have to give it to metal gear,not that either one of these games look bad.loudharley
